The admissions procedure for the B.Sc. Nursing programme for the 2023–24 academic year has been made public by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). The course lasts for four years, and the admissions process involves a shared entrance exam and seat distribution.

Application Fee:  

• For candidates who fall under the general, SC, ST, Category I, OBC (2A, 2B, 3A, 3B), and PWD categories, the application cost for the B.Sc. Nursing programme is Rs. 500. 
• Candidates from outside of Karnataka must pay Rs. 1000. 

Mode of Payment:

The only ways to pay the fee are with debit or credit cards through a payment gateway. It’s vital to understand that the registration cost is never refundable.

Candidates who want to take part in the admissions process must register online. However, merely registering does not grant eligibility or any rights. The rules and regulations that the government periodically issues affect eligibility. The instructions are based on the current selection rules and any modifications made from time to time by the Government of Karnataka and RGUHS, Bengaluru. Any additional laws that will be in effect at the appropriate moment will also apply.

ELIGIBILITY FOR B.Sc. NURSING ADMISSION 2023-24

For the academic year 2023–2024, the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has released an informational bulletin on admission to the B.Sc. Nursing programme. For consideration as an applicant, candidates must meet a number of requirements. Let’s look over the criteria for admission to the B.Sc. nursing programme in more detail:

• Each condition is listed as a clause and is referred to specifically by a code. For each of the clauses, a list of the papers that must be submitted during the claim’s verification is also provided below the relevant clause.
• Candidates will not be admitted to professional courses under Government quota seats if they fail to meet any of the clauses or eligibility criteria listed below or if they fail to present the required documents in genuine.
• In addition to the certificates listed in the clauses, candidates requesting seats under Article 371(j) for the Hyderabad-Karnataka region reservation must present an eligibility certificate from the relevant Assistant Commissioner in the format specified in the annexe.

Karnataka or Non-Karnataka Candidates (Candidates who are Indian nationals but do not meet any of the aforementioned requirements for eligibility in Karnataka)

Documents that must be created:

1) SSLC / Marks Card for the 10th grade

2) The candidate’s 2nd PUC/12th grade report card; 

Other documents mentioned below specified in the different clauses:

• If claiming the rural quota: a certificate of rural study from first to tenth grade for ten full years.
• Kannada Medium Study Certificate from First to Tenth Grades for Ten Complete Years, if claiming Kannada Medium Quota.
• If claiming reservation benefits, a caste or caste income certificate issued by a concerned tahasildar is required for SC/ST in Form-D, Category-I in Form-E, and 2A, 2B, 3A, and 3B in Form-F. The years of academic study are only counted as one year if they are for a class or standard. 

•  When requesting reservation benefits:- A study certificate for either parent who has studied for at least 7 years in Karnataka from the Head of the educational institution where he or she had studied. This certificate is issued by the Tahasildar for SC/ST in Form-D, Category-I in Form-E, and 2A, 2B, 3A, and 3B in Form-F. (b) the candidate’s study certificate from the head of the educational institution attesting that they completed both the first and second PUC or the eleventh and twelfth grades in Karnataka. 
• A domicile certificate from the relevant Revenue or Municipal Authorities attesting to the fact that the candidate and one of his parents did not reside in Karnataka as of May 1, 2023. The location of the issuing authority should be the same as the candidate’s, father’s, or mother’s place of residence.

• A domicile certificate from the relevant Karnataka Revenue Authorities stating that the candidate’s father or mother’s former residence was in the state of Karnataka. The domicile of the father or mother should be in line with the location of the issuing authority.
• The study and transfer certificates for the candidate.
• In support of the mother language being Kannada, Tulu, or Kodava, a father or mother’s original 10th standard marks card or cumulative record a properly witnessed disclosure of the candidates’ mother tongues 

•  A residential certificate from the contested Taluk’s concerned Tahasildar.
• The candidate’s study certificate, which shall be countersigned by the Taluk Education Officer and was issued by the institution’s head.
• A properly witnessed declaration of the candidate’s mother tongue

• The candidate’s study certificate from the institution’s head verifying that they passed the second PUC or an equivalent test in Karnataka.
• An employment certificate for the parent from the Controlling Office where the parent is employed, stating the time period from the reporting date to the present during which the parent has worked in the State of Karnataka. 

• When requesting reservation benefits:4) Parent’s home town declaration certificate when joining the service, issued by respective branch of integrated HQ of MOD for Officers and respective Record Offices for JCOs/OR. Caste / Caste Income Certificate issued by Concerned Tahasildar as per the prescribed format given in the brochure.

• The candidate’s study certificate from the institution’s head verifying that they passed the second PUC or an equivalent test in Karnataka
• A service certificate for the parent from the controlling office stating the duration of the parent’s employment in Karnataka as well as a certificate stating the parent’s current place of employment, demonstrating that the parent’s family is allowed to remain in Karnataka. The current employed place should be clearly specified 
•  When requesting reservation benefits:Caste and Caste Income Certificates, issued by Concerned Tahasildar, are available in Forms D and E for SC/ST, Category-I, and Forms 2A, 2B, 3A, and 3B, respectively.

• A certificate from the Joint Director or Deputy Director of the relevant district stating the parent’s home town must be shown upon enlisting, and it must be countersigned by the Director of the Department of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement in Bangalore.

• A letter from the employer confirming the parent’s employment history in the State of Karnataka and attesting to his transferability throughout India.
• A certificate from the employer attesting that the parent is a worker for the federal government, the joint-sector enterprise, the state of Karnataka, or both. 

•   When requesting reservation benefits:Caste and Caste Income Certificates are issued by Concerned Tahasildars and are available in Forms D and F for SC and ST, Form E for Category I, and Form F for 2A, 2B, 3A, and 3B for SC and ST. 
• Additionally – (1) A study certificate from the head of the educational institution where the parent employee had studied attesting to his or her attendance for at least seven years in the State of Karnataka. (2) A certificate that the parent employee signed at the time of joining the service and that the company supplied proving the is transportable throughout India. 
• When requesting reservation benefits: Caste/Caste Income Certificate for SC/ST inform-D, Category-I inform-E, and 2A, 2B, 3A, and 3B inform-F issued by Concerned Tahasildar.

• A certificate from the Parliament Secretariat attesting that the father is or was a Karnataka-based MP.  

Reserved Categories

In Karnataka, the government has set aside seats for specific categories as part of the admission process for some courses. 

• SC/ST/Category-I/2A/2B/3A/3B candidates who are eligible to claim government seats under certain eligibility criteria,
• candidates who have participated in Republic Day or Independence Day camps conducted by the Directorate General of NCC
• Who  won medals/cups/plates in national or international level sports events. 
• Other categories for which seats are reserved include candidates who have received the President Award as Scouts/Guides,
• children of Defense personnel or Ex-servicemen
• candidates from the Anglo Indian community
• candidates with disabilities (PWD/PH). 

The extent of specified disability in a person is assessed according to the Guidelines for the purpose of assessing the extent of specified disability in a person included under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, and a minimum degree of disability of 40% (Benchmark Disability) is required for availing reservation under the PWD quota. Seats under the PWD quota are allotted based on inter-se-merit.

Certificates must be produced or uploaded at the time of document verification in their original form and one set of authenticated copies: The manner and timetable for document verification will be made public on the KEA website.

1. The completed online application form printed out.
2.  Evidence that the application fees have been paid.
3. S.S.L.C. marking card (to verify birth date).
4. The results of the II-PUC or a comparable exam
5. The concerned BEO/DDPI’s countersignature on the study certificate

NOTE: Candidates for the CBSE and CISCE must provide the study certificate they received from the principal of their respective schools.Additionally, BEO or DDPI countersignature is not necessary for them. 

1. A Kannada Medium Study Certificate that has been countersigned by the relevant BEO is required for applicants who want to be considered for reservation benefits.
2. A verification certificate and a rural study certificate countersigned by the relevant BEO (only for GM applicants).
3. For candidates claiming benefits under the reservation policy,  Caste Certificate, Caste Income Certificate, or Income Certificate received from the relevant Tahasildhar. (Caste and Income Certificate in Forms “D” for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, “E” for Category I, and “F” for other backward classes like 2A, 2B, 3A, and “3B,” issued by the jurisdictional Tahasildhar.) Residence Certificate for 10 years in Karnataka (issued by the Tahashildar of Karnataka) or Study Certificate for seven years in Karnataka.
4. Reservation for the Hyderabad-Karnataka Region (Article 371(j))During document verification, candidates must present the certificate in Annexure A (eligibility certificate – rule 3(3)) issued by the relevant Assistant Commissioner
5. For candidates claiming eligibility for government seats based on the domicile, study, or employment of the parent, the parent’s study certificate, home town certificate, domicile certificate, employment certificate, cumulative record, parent’s marks card, etc.
6.  For candidates who claim eligibility under the Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadiga clauses as well as the Anglo Indian clauses, an affidavit that has been duly sworn in is required.
7. Candidate may only claim benefits related to caste, category, and income if they were indicated in the online application. Candidates claiming a seat under the reserved category and belonging to SC, ST, or Category-I must also present an income certificate issued by the jurisdictional Tahshildar for verification if they want to be eligible for a fee exemption
8. Certificates that are pertinent for students who are requesting an exemption from seven years of education in Karnataka.
9. A certificate of physical fitness.

Things to be Followed

• Requests to change category after submitting the application will not be considered. 
• Provide your religion, caste, and sub-caste, along with your full postal address, including the name of the city, state, and pin code. 
• You may also include your telephone number with STD code, mobile number, and email ID. 
• Indicate if you are claiming reservation under the Person with Disability quota and if you are claiming reservation under HK region. 
• Once you have filled in the online application form, review the data and press the SUBMIT button. 
• The system will prompt you to upload a scanned photograph of .jpg format file according to the specified requirements.
•  An Application Number will be generated, so please record it for future reference. 
• Print out the filled-in application form.
•  Candidates should ensure their eligibility for the relevant courses. 

If the Government/KEA/University/Apex Body detects any ineligibility at any stage, the candidate’s candidature will be cancelled, and legal action may be taken against them.
