NEET PG AIQ Round 3: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has released the upgradation rules for All India Quota (AIQ) Round 3 counselling. AIQ Round 3 offers candidates an important opportunity to either retain their current seat or opt for a better one, depending on their preferences. Understanding the upgradation process is key to ensuring a smooth transition from earlier rounds. Here’s a breakdown of the rules for candidates from both AI Round 1 and AI Round 2.
The NEET PG Round 3 seat matrix will be released on 26th December, 2025. For candidates aiming to participate in Round 3, registration and payment are mandatory and must be completed between 26th December, 2025, and 1st January, 2026. The Round 3 registration process must be finished before 12:00 noon on 1st January, 2026, as no applications or payments will be accepted after this deadline.
For AIQ Round 1 Candidates Retaining Their Seat in AIQ Round 2
Candidates who joined a seat in Round 1 and retained it through Round 2 are eligible to participate in AIQ Round 3 for upgradation. The process is simple:
- Eligibility: You can participate in Round 3 and either retain your current seat or upgrade it, based on your new preferences.
- No Willingness Submission: There’s no need to submit any willingness for upgradation to your AIQ Round 1 institute.
- No Additional Payments: You do not need to make any further payments. Just log in during the AIQ Round 3 registration period and fill in your updated choices.
- No Deposit Forfeiture: Your security deposit remains intact and will be carried over to the next round.
For AIQ Round 2 Candidates (Freshly Allotted or Upgraded Seats)
Candidates who were allotted or upgraded a seat in AI Round 2 also have the chance for upgradation in AIQ Round 3:
- Eligibility: If you joined a seat in AIQ Round 2, whether newly allotted or upgraded, you can opt for upgradation in Round 3.
- Willingness Submission Required: You must submit a willingness for upgradation at your AIQ Round 2 institute to indicate your intent to participate in AI Round 3.
- No Additional Payments: Like AIQ Round 1 candidates, no extra payments are required. Simply log in and update your choices.
- No Deposit Forfeiture: Your security deposit remains unaffected.
In AIQ Round 3, candidates from both Round 1 and Round 2 enter with a seat already in hand, ensuring that they have a place secured, whether they choose to retain or upgrade it. This guarantees that no matter what, candidates will have a seat allocated to them.
Additionally, once a candidate participates in Round 3 and is allocated a seat, they become ineligible for stray round allocations. This means they cannot be considered for any remaining seats after Round 3, so it’s important to finalize preferences carefully.
