Government of India has proposed to establish New Medical Colleges to promote and enhance Medical Education as well as to minimize the shortage of doctors in the country. The college is affiliated with the Madhya Pradesh Medical Sciences University, Jabalpur (MPMSU) and recognized by National Medical Commission (NMC), India. The Medical College has an annual intake of 100 MBBS seats.
Under this scheme, it was proposed that Government of MP will establish a Medical College at Chhindwara for 100 M.B.B.S students admissions annually.
For this purpose District Hospital Chhindwara which is functioning as multi-specialty 426 bedded Hospital is being upgraded to 600 beds which will more than fulfill the norms of the Medical Council of India.
District Hospital Chhindwara is the attached multi-specialty teaching Hospital which has been upgraded to 600+ bedded hospital from 426 beds. It has 24X7 Emergency and Trauma care, Blood bank facilities. The Hospital has huge number of footfalls everyday in OPD’s and In- Patient department. The Hospital has all the basic and advanced Medical facilities including Clinical and Diagnostic Laboratories and Dialysis facilities. There are major and minor Operation Theatres with fully equipped ICU’s. The Hospital’s general specialities include General Medicine, General Surgery, OBG, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Radiodiagnosis, ENT, Ophthalmology, Anaesthesiology, Pathology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Forensic Medicine.
