IIT-I Healthcare Center of Excellence with AIIMS and MYH. The Indian Institute of Technology, Indore (IIT-I) will work with AIIMS, Delhi. To build a Healthcare Centre of Excellence (CoE). This programme is part of the efforts of the DRISHTI CPS Foundation. It is an IIT-I Technology Innovation Hub supported by the Department of Science and Technology. It integrates Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) with healthcare in order to improve patient care and medical results.
Introduction to the Healthcare CoE
The projected IIT-I Healthcare CoE would use Cyber-Physical Systems to forecast difficulties in patients receiving treatment. It will allow clinicians to take preventive steps. Using the Internet of Things (IoT), the CoE will monitor the operation of critical care equipment such as CT machines, MRI machines, and ventilators using computer-based algorithms. This real-time monitoring will aid in the early detection of operational flaws, the provision of essential training, and the advancement of healthcare research.
AIIMS and Other Institutions Collaboration
Aside from AIIMS, IIT-I’s DRISHTI CPS Foundation is in talks with MY Hospital Indore, the Software Technology Park of India (STPI), and other significant stakeholders in the healthcare business. The purpose is to encourage collaboration among many stakeholders and to build a strong ecosystem for healthcare innovation and growth.
Professor Bhupesh Lad, project director of DRISHTI CPS Foundation, expressed excitement over the Centre of Excellence’s formation. “We are working on establishing a Centre of Excellence in healthcare, for which we are in discussions with the state government and other stakeholders,” he said. AIIMS, as well as the Software Technology Park of India and MY Hospital, are being discussed.”
Using Cyber-Physical Systems to Address Healthcare Challenges
Dr. Deepak Agrawal, a neurosurgeon at AIIMS in Delhi, stressed the importance of incorporating cyber-physical systems into the healthcare industry. He emphasised that the effort offers vital insights on resolving healthcare issues. The CoE will focus on constructing a virtual version of ventilated brain trauma patients as part of a cooperative initiative between AIIMS and DRISHTI CPS, IIT Indore. This comprises real-time cloud sharing of important patient data and ventilator parameters, allowing predictive modelling to spot probable issues early. This proactive strategy will let professionals take preventive steps as soon as possible.
“The healthcare sector has been somewhat neglected,” Dr. Agrawal continued, “and through this initiative, we learned that many healthcare problems can be solved through cyber-physical systems.” We are working on a cooperative project with DRISHTI CPS, IIT Indore, to create a cyber-version of ventilated brain trauma patients… This will aid in anticipating issues before they occur, allowing physicians to take preventive steps.”
IIT-I Healthcare Center of Excellence Collaboration and Future Prospects
A team of 8-10 specialists specialising in several medical specialties, including medicine, emergency care, neurosurgery, critical care, and cardiology, will work on this effort to assure its success. Initially, the system will notify clinicians of issues such as pulmonary edoema, pneumonia, and cardiac overload in patients. Medical practitioners can take remedial steps more quickly if they get timely alerts, potentially saving lives and improving patient outcomes.
The DRISHTI CPS Foundation recently organised the inaugural “SETU” (Stakeholder Engagement in Technology Upgradation) event. It was intended to showcase various businesses, innovations, and link technology developers with end-users in the Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) area. Padma Bhushan Kris Gopalakrishnan, co-founder of Infosys, Padma Shri professor Deepak Phatak, chairman of the board of governors at IIT Indore, and professor Suhas S Joshi, director of IIT Indore, all attended the ceremony.
The partnership between IIT-I, AIIMS, and other important healthcare stakeholders constitutes a significant step. A step forward in the integration of technology and healthcare. The construction of a healthcare CoE, powered by Cyber Physical Systems. This will result in advances in forecasting problems, improving patient care, and permitting proactive actions to enhance medical outcomes.
