The Karwar Institute of Medical Sciences, Karwar, is an Autonomous Government Medical College of the Government of Karnataka. established in the Year 2016. The college is located in Karwar which is the administrative headquarters of Uttara Kannada district and is a picturesque, calm place is bound by the Arabian sea on its west side and by the Western Ghats on its eastern sides. Karwar is known for INS Kadamba which is a important base for the Indian navy.
