14.99 Lakh Applications in CUET-UG, 50% More Than Last Time

Maximum Applications Came for These Two Universities

This year, there were a record number of applications for the Common University Entrance Test, which determines admission to undergraduate programmes at institutions all over India. In fact, compared to last year, the number of applications has climbed by more than 50%. In contrast to last year, when only 9.9 lakh students applied, this year, a total of 14.99 lakh students have registered for CUET-UG and submitted their application forms.

The competition for admission has become more difficult as a result of the increase in applications, particularly at universities where the most applications are submitted. Delhi University and Banaras Hindu University have once again received the most applications, per the trend. We will examine the causes of this increase in applications, the universities that have gotten the most applications, and the implications for the students in this article.

Reasons for the Increase in Applications

The higher awareness among the students is one of the main causes of the increase in applications this year. When CUET was originally introduced last year, a large number of students took the test for various reasons. The pupils who were unable to take the exam last year, however, have also applied this year. Furthermore, the students are aware that they would not be admitted to prestigious universities without CUET. The number of applications has also increased as a result of numerous scientific students applying for NEET, JEE Main, and CUET.

Universities with the most applications

Delhi University and Banaras Hindu University have once again got the most applications, as they did last year. Applications have been submitted to both of these universities from all over the nation. There are about 28.4 lakh applications for the 73 undergraduate programmes that Delhi University grants admission to, which equates to about 39 thousand applications per course.

Furthermore, both Chemistry and Physics have received more than 6 lakh applications each. The most applications were sent to Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Allahabad University, and Jamia Millia Islamia. In the CUET, a candidate may take up to 10 subjects. The majority of applications were from UP, Delhi, and Bihar.

The Upcoming Competition

The increase in applications suggests that this year’s admissions process will be more competitive. Additionally, there will be more competition for admission because there are now 242 universities participating in CUET, up from 90. Universities will admit students to dual degree programmes in addition to the regular BA, B.Com, and B.Sc. programmes based on their CUET scores. They can choose between Admission may also be made based on CUET results for BBA-LLB, BA-LLB, BSC-MSC, and BA-MA programmes. On the basis of this score, several universities admit students into five-year integrated programmes.

The increased interest in higher education in India is evidenced by the record number of applications received for CUET-UG this year. The kids are prepared to put in a lot of effort to get a decent education because they realise that it is the key to success in life. The children will have to study hard for the examinations and compete against other applicants to get into the university of their choice.
