Delhi High Court Orders Revision of CLAT 2025 Results Due to Errors in Two Questions

New Delhi, December 23, 2024: The Delhi High Court has directed the Consortium of National Law Universities (CNLU) to revise the results of the CLAT 2025 undergraduate exam after identifying errors in two questions. The court’s decision comes in response to a petition filed by 17-year-old Aditya Singh, who challenged the final answer key released by the CNLU on December 8, 2023.

In its ruling, the court found errors in question numbers 14 and 100 from Set A of the exam paper. Justice Jyoti Singh, while delivering the judgment, stated that the errors were “demonstrably clear” and that ignoring them would be unjust to the candidates.

The court specifically upheld option ‘C’ as the correct answer for question 14 in Set A, a decision that was also supported by the Expert Committee. As a result, the court has ordered that the benefit of this correction be extended to all candidates who had selected option ‘C’ for question 14.

In a significant move, the court instructed the CNLU to revise the results accordingly and ensure that the affected candidates are given the necessary benefit. This ruling is expected to impact the overall rankings and the ongoing counselling process for admission to the 5-year LLB course at National Law Universities.

The decision is seen as a crucial step in maintaining the fairness and integrity of the CLAT exam process, which is the gateway for admission to prestigious law schools across India. The CNLU is now expected to make the necessary adjustments to the results and announce the revised scores in due course.

Candidates who had raised concerns over the answer key are likely to benefit from the court’s intervention, which has raised important questions about the transparency of the exam process.
