Delhi High Court Orders Rescheduling of CLAT 2024 Counselling Dates

The Delhi High Court has issued a directive concerning the CLAT 2024 counselling process, following an order to the Consortium of National Law Universities (CNLU) to revise the merit list initially published on December 7, 2024.

This ruling comes after CNLU agreed to amend the results of the CLAT 2025 undergraduate exam due to errors identified in two questions. The court’s decision follows a petition filed by 17-year-old Aditya Singh, who contested the final answer key issued by CNLU on December 8, 2023.

The court specifically found errors in question numbers 14 and 100 from Set A of the exam paper. Justice Jyoti Singh, who delivered the judgment, noted that the mistakes were “demonstrably clear” and should not be ignored, as it would be unfair to the candidates. The court ruled that option ‘C’ was the correct answer for question 14 in Set A, a position that was also supported by an Expert Committee. Consequently, candidates who had selected option ‘C’ for question 14 will benefit from this correction.

In light of this ruling, the Delhi High Court has directed CNLU to revisit the CLAT 2024 merit list. As a result, the counselling process will be delayed, and the release of the first admission list, originally scheduled for December 26, will be postponed.

CNLU has assured that it will ensure transparency and fairness throughout the revised counselling process. A new schedule will be announced after the Supreme Court’s appeal process and any potential relief granted. All important updates will be shared on the official CNLU website.
