The construction of these nursing colleges intends to resolve the regional and rural-urban disparities in the healthcare sector, which have harmed healthcare services in underserved areas and led to a lopsided availability of nursing professionals.

Out of these, there will be 27 colleges built in Uttar Pradesh, 23 in Rajasthan, 14 in Madhya Pradesh, 11 in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal, 8 in Bihar, 7 in Jammu and Kashmir, 5 in Assam, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, and Jharkhand, 4 in Uttarakhand, 3 in Punjab, and 1 in Haryana.

In Uttar Pradesh, nursing colleges will be set up in districts such as Basti, Faizabad, Firozabad, Shahjahanpur, Bahraich, Etah, Hardoi, Pratapgarh, Fatehpur, Siddharthnagar (Domariyaganj), Deoria, Ghazipur, Mirzapur, Bijnaur, Kishunagar, Sultanpur, Gonda, Lalitpur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Chandauli, Bulandshahr, Sonbhadra, Pilibhit, Auraiya, Kanpur Dehat, Kaushambi, and Amethi.

In Rajasthan, the new nursing colleges will be established in districts like Barmer, Bharatpur, Bhilwara, Churu, Dungarpur, Pali, Sikar, Dholpur, Alwar, Baran, Banswara, Chittorgarh, Jaisalmer, Karauli, Nagaur, Sri Ganganagar, Sirohi, Bundi, Sawaimadhopur, Tonk, Hanumangarh, Jhunjhunu, and Dausa.

They’ll be spread across Madhya Pradesh’s Datia, Khandwa, Ratlam, Shahdol, Vidisha, Chhindwara, Shivpuri, Satna, Rajgarh, Mandla, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Sheopurand Singrauli districts, among others.

VITEEE overview

Rank-Wise Counselling Schedule

Based on the candidates’ rankings, the counselling will be conducted in four rounds between April 26 and June 14.

• Phase 1 for ranks 1-20,000 is from April 26 to 30.
• Phase 2 for ranks 20,001-45,000 is from May 9 to 11.
• Phase 3 for ranks 45,001-70,000 is from May 20 to 22.
• Phase 4 for rank 70,001-1,00,000 is from May 31 to June 2.

Only candidates with rankings over a lakh are eligible for counselling for the B Tech programmes offered by VIT-AP and VIT-Bhopal, and phase 5 counselling for those with these ranks is planned to take place from June 12 to June 14. To secure allocation, candidates are asked to provide the most options possible during the online counselling.

Waivers of Tuition for Top Rank Holders

Candidates whose VITEEE scores fall between 1 and 10 will receive a full tuition waiver for all four years, while those whose scores fall between 11 and 50 will receive a 75% tuition fee relief. Candidates in ranks 51 through 100 will receive a 50% tuition fee waiver, while those in ranks 101 through 500 will receive a 25% tuition fee waiver.

STARS  Programme for Rural Students

Under the STARS (Support The Advancement of Rural Students) programme, the district toppers (one boy and one girl) who attended government schools in rural areas in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh will receive a 100% fee waiver as well as exemption from hostel and mess fees.

In New Delhi: 168 universities are a part of the Common University Entrance Test-Undergraduate (CUET-UG 2023) programme, including the 44 Central Universities. According to government sources, more than 30 colleges will reportedly accept the results of the COMMON ENTRY TEST for undergraduate admissions for the academic year 2023–2024. Due to more colleges participating in the test, the deadline for submitting an online application for the CUET-UG, which was originally set for March 12, has been extended until the end of the month. The joining of CUET was announced by the University of Kashmir (KU) on Tuesday.

The entire admission announcement for various UG programmes in its associated colleges has been made available on the university website, according to Professor Nilofer Khan, vice chancellor of KU.

Out of the 168 universities, 31 are state universities, including, among others, Barkatullah University in Bhopal, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University in Delhi, Cotton University in Guwahati, and the Dr. BR Ambedkar School of Economics in Karnataka. For their undergraduate programmes, 27 recognised universities will admit students depending on their CUET results. This year, 66 private institutions are also taking part in the CET, including Bennett University in Uttar Pradesh, NIIT University in Rajasthan, and UPES-Dehradun.

A total of 9.14 lakh candidates—of whom 4.03 lakh are female candidates—registered for the CUET-UG test after it was established last year. Most applications were submitted to the University of Delhi (6.05 lacks), Banaras Hindu University (3.91 lacks), and the University of Allahabad (2.33 lacks). In terms of candidates by state, Uttar Pradesh had 2.86 lacks, followed by Delhi with 1.32 lakhs and Bihar with 70,044

On the CUET-UG 2022 exam, 21,159 applicants received a perfect score, with 12,799 of them being women. Twelve candidates received perfect scores in five subjects. Political science comes in second with 2,065 candidates, and business studies comes in third with 1,669 candidates, with 8,236 candidates receiving 100 percentile scores in English.

Jhajjar: In a ragging incident reported from the World College of Medical Sciences and Research in Jhajjar, six MBBS students were expelled for three months after a junior complained of ragging from seniors, which resulted in injuries.

The complainant, a second-year MBBS student from Faridabad, claimed that on the night of March 1 and 2, six seniors hit him with an iron rod and assaulted his friends.

This incident took place in front of the hostel warden and a guard. The senior students were in a drunken state.

He stated, “After we spoke out against the ragging, my friends were assaulted by seniors. My head was stitched up six times. When the incident occurred at midnight, the senior students were intoxicated. They barged into my room and thrashed me for opposing ragging.” In addition, he told Tribune India, “A hostel warden also supported the seniors instead of helping us.”

Also, the complainant’s brother also claimed that the college authorities had previously received a complaint about ragging but had taken no action. According to the TOI, the police registered the case under Sections 147 (rioting), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of the offence committed in prosecution of a common object), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.

The college dean, Dr.JC Passey, told HT that four of the six accused students had been expelled for three months and two for 45 days. Suraj Bhan, SHO of the Jhajjar police station, stated that the six students and the hostel warden had been arrested and that the case is being investigated.
