The Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India (GoI) supervise the examination.

While the GATE score is primarily utilized for post-graduate program admissions in India, certain educational institutions in Singapore and Germany also acknowledge it as a valid criterion for eligibility. This article presents a comprehensive list of foreign universities that accept GATE scores for admission into their post-graduate programs.

  • Nanyang Technological University, Singapore

For postgraduate program admissions, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore recognizes GATE scores as a means of verifying eligibility. Although international and overseas applicants are mandated to provide GRE and TOEFL scores, Indian citizens are given the option of substituting their GATE score for the GRE, and their TOEFL score for the IELTS. The university’s website specifies that applicants must attain a minimum GATE percentile score of 90%, and the score should not be older than three years.

  • Technical University of Munich

At the technical university located in Germany, Indian applicants are allowed to present their GATE scores instead of the GRE. Additionally, those who hold degrees from the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) are not required to submit a separate GATE eligibility certificate. Moreover, there is no need to provide either a GATE or a GRE score while applying for a Studienkolleg.

  • RWTH Aachen University (Germany)

RWTH Aachen University requires Indian applicants to have a minimum grade in their school leaving certificate and pass additional entrance exams for admission to master’s-level programmes. However, this requirement only applies to university programmes and not other levels of study.

  • National University of Singapore

NUS Singapore allows Indian applicants to substitute the GRE with GATE scores for their master’s-level programmes, including the Master in Computer Science, the Master of Computing with specialisations in Information Systems, Artificial Intelligence, and Infocomm Security, as well as the General Track and a Master of Science programme in Digital Financial Technology (MSc DFinTech). Indian candidates who have obtained their degrees from Indian universities can submit their GATE scores instead of the GRE. This information is mentioned in the university’s guidelines.
