JEE Main 2023: 75% Board Eligibility Required for IIT-NIT

The Bombay High Court dismissed the board’s appeal for a pass percentage reduction, upholding the criterion of 75% marks for admission to IITs and NITs. This decision has surprised thousands of students who had hoped to get admission to these elite institutions. In this post, we will look at the implications of this judgment and the options accessible to students who are affected by it.

What is the Bombay High Court’s decision on the JEE Main 2023?

On May 3, the Bombay High Court denied a plea filed by the board seeking a modification in the pass percentage, while maintaining the 75% mark threshold for admission to IITs and NITs. This decision will have an impact on thousands of students who did not get a 75% in their board exams. The decision came shortly after the announcement of the JEE Main 2023 results, and many students are now in a state of fear.

Admission Opportunities in Other Institutes for JEE Main 2023

Engineering Career Counselor Amit Ahuja has encouraged all such students to begin applying for admission to other engineering institutes, as the admission application process is still ongoing at several of the country’s major engineering institutes. Students can apply to BITS Pilani, Manipal, Mangalore, PES Bengaluru, KIIT Kalinga, SRM Chennai, MIT Pune, UPES Dehradun, NIIMS Mumbai, Shiv Nadar Noida, Bennett Noida, BBP Pune, LPU Punjab, and other colleges. All of these institutes admit students using their own examinations, and there is no 75% board requirement for entrance.

Other institutes do not require JEE Main 2023 board eligibility.

Students who are not likely to get core branches in NITs and Triple ITs based on JEE Main might apply to NNMIIT Jaipur, JP Noida, Thapar Patiala, DTU, NSIT, Nirma Ahmedabad, Dhirubhai Ambani, Triple IT Hyderabad, and other colleges. Admission to these institutes does not require board qualifications.

What are the options if your JEE Main 2023 All India Rank is far behind?

Students with a low All India Rank in JEE Main can apply for State Engineering Colleges using the 15% other state quota based only on JEE Main. Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Haryana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Odisha, and West Bengal are among these states.

The JEE Advanced Application Process Is Still Ongoing

IIT Guwahati has begun the application process for JEE Advanced, which will be held on June 4. A large number of students have applied for the exam, and the application deadline is May 7. The exam results will be released on June 18. NITs, which are based on JEE Main, will begin only after Triple IT on June 19.

Many students are disappointed by the Bombay High Court’s recent decision regarding the 75% board eligibility criteria for admission to IITs and NITs. However, it is important to remember that students who do not meet this requirement have many other options. Engineering colleges such as BITS Pilani, Manipal, and KIIT Kalinga do not have board eligibility requirements, and other institutes such as NNMIIT Jaipur and Thapar Patiala do not require it for specific degrees. Furthermore, through the 15% other state quota based on JEE Main, students can explore state engineering colleges.

Before making a decision about their future, students should remain optimistic and consider all of their options. While the JEE Main 2023 results may not have gone as planned for some, there are still many opportunities for success in the engineering field.

JEE: Answer Key for Main 2023 Examination available on NTA’s website

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2023 Session 2 was administered in computer-based test (CBT) format on several dates in April 2023 by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Planning) on their official website  https://nta.ac.in/ for applicants to contest.

The website’s Annexure 1 outlines the steps for contesting the Answer Key. Candidates may contest the Answer Key by paying a non-refundable processing fee of Rs. 200/- (Rupees Two Hundred only) for each question they wish to contest.
