The National Medical Commission (NMC) has granted permission to the Government Medical College in Telangana’s Rajanna Sircilla district to admit students for the academic year 2023–2024. The new medical college will accept 100 MBBS students and operate under the auspices of Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences, Warangal. As part of the college’s expansion plans, the district hospital in Sircilla will also be enlarged to a 300-bed facility.

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has finally given the Government Medical College in Telangana’s Rajanna Sircilla district permission to admit students for the 2023–2024 academic year. With 100 MBBS students, the new medical institution will be affiliated with the Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences in Warangal. The Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the NMC has reportedly given the Sircilla Medical College permission to start taking new students, according to a recent media article by Times of India. This year, the college will accept its first group of MBBS students. The Telangana government has been planning to hasten the development of the remaining six medical colleges throughout the state as three medical colleges already have 100 MBBS seats sanctioned by the NMC.

As part of the college’s growth plans, the district hospital in Sircilla will be upgraded to a 300-bed facility in compliance with state government directives. The approval of the Government Medical College Rajanna Sircilla was announced by Harish Rao Thanneeru, minister for finance, health, and family welfare, who said: “Extremely delighted to share that Rajanna Sircilla district has got the approval for the Government Medical College with 100 MBBS seats.”

Completion of The Other Medical Colleges

The state government’s goal of constructing six new medical colleges is on track, according to health minister Harish Rao. Rao had already ordered officials to expedite construction on nine forthcoming medical colleges in the State, of which three have already received approval to open this year.

According to Harish Rao Thanneeru, the chief minister’s dream of having one district medical college take part in “Arogya Telangana” will come true after there are 24 government medical colleges. The Telangana government is constructing nine medical institutions in time for the academic year 2023–2024. The NMC approval process for two medical institutions in Karimnagar and Nirmal is almost complete.

The NMC’s clearance of the Government Medical College in the Rajanna Sircilla area is excellent news for students in the state who are vying for spots in medical schools.
