There are 170 MBBS seats under the West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS), Kolkata. All 170 seats are recognized by MCI. Admission to Undergraduate MBBS course is strictly on merit as per the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for IG admission. The MBBS Course is divided in to three Professional courses. 1st Professional course consists of two semesters of six month each. Ordinarily, the first professional course starts in August every year. After successful completion and passing internal assessment and prescribed examination, a student is taken to Second Professional MBBS Course which consists of three semesters, each of six months duration. After successful completion of 2nd Professional Course, a student is taken to 3rd Professional MBBS Course which consists of seven semesters, each of six month duration.

About Hospital

The hospital is situated in several buildings. The Main Building contains indoor wards of Surgery, Medicine and Pediatrics. The Eye-ENT complex contains the departments of Ophthalmology and Otorhinolaryngology. The Maternity Block is a separate 3-storied building that houses Gynecology & Obstetrics. Orthopedics Ward is situated in the ground floor of Woodburn Block. Psychiatry and Physical Medicine are situated in their own buildings. The OPD Block is in the eastern end of campus. The Casualty Complex has two buildings – One in the OPD complex, and the other in the New Emergency Ward in the north-east corner of campus. School of Digestive and Liver Diseases is located at the eastern part of the premises. There are multi super specialty services like Neonatal department with Cath Lab. Neuro Medicine and Genomics department.
