What is IISER?
The Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) are a group of premier institutions in India dedicated to fostering excellence in science education and research. Established by the Government of India, IISERs aim to integrate education and research in the natural sciences, providing students with an in-depth, interdisciplinary approach to science. There are currently IISER campuses in Berhampur, Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram, and Tirupati.
The primary goal of IISERs is to nurture students who will contribute to the development of innovative, sustainable solutions for global and societal challenges. IISERs are known for their research output, including a high number of patents and publications in top-tier international journals. The institutions attract some of the brightest minds in science, with faculty members of international repute guiding students toward significant academic and research accomplishments.
IAT 2025
IAT 2025 stands for IISER Aptitude Test 2025, which is an entrance exam conducted by the Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs). It is used to determine the eligibility of candidates for admission into the BS-MS and B.Tech. programs offered by IISERs.

IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) 2025
The IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) 2025 will be held on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at 9:00 AM. The test will be computer-based and administered at various centers across India. Key details about IAT 2025:
• Total Questions: 60 (15 each from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics)
• Duration: 180 minutes
• Type of Questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
• Marking Scheme:
o Correct Answer: +4 marks
o Incorrect Answer: -1 mark
o Unanswered Questions: 0 marks
o Maximum Marks: 240
Please note that getting a rank in IAT 2025 does not guarantee admission to an IISER, as the rank cut-off will be announced at a later date.
Application Fee
The application fee for IISER 2025 is to be paid online during the submission of the application form. The fee structure is as follows:

The application fee is non-refundable.
Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF)
The Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF) is to be paid after receiving the admission offer. The SAF details are:
• General/EWS/OBC/OBC-NCL/PwD/KM/Kashmiri Pandit: Rs. 35,000 (includes Rs. 25,000 + Rs. 10,000 administrative fee)
• SC/ST Candidates: Rs. 17,500 (includes Rs. 12,500 + Rs. 5,000 administrative fee)
Failure to pay the SAF within the prescribed timeline will lead to the cancellation of the admission offer.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for IAT 2025:
• Nationality: Indian nationals, OCI/PIO, and Foreign Nationals
• Qualification:
Candidates should have passed the Class XII (or equivalent) examination with a science stream (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology).
o Foreign Nationals must upload an equivalence certificate issued by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
• Age: Candidates must have been born on or after October 01, 2000. SC/ST/PwD candidates have a five-year age relaxation.
• Minimum Marks in Class XII:
o General/OBC/EWS: Minimum 60% marks
o SC/ST/PwD: Minimum 55% marks
Reservation Policy
The IISERs follow the Government of India's reservation policy for admissions:
• SC (Scheduled Caste): 15%
• ST (Scheduled Tribe): 7.5%
• OBC-NCL (Other Backward Classes - Non-Creamy Layer): 27%
• PwD (Persons with Disability): 5% (horizontal within the same category)
• Kashmiri Migrants: 3 seats per IISER (supernumerary)
• EWS (Economically Weaker Section): Up to 10%
