NMC Update for PwBD Candidates (MBBS Admissions 2026)

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has notified new PwBD Assessment Guidelines for MBBS Admissions 2026. The revised framework introduces a competency-based assessment system for candidates seeking admission under the PwBD quota. • Competency-based assessment framework introduced.
  • Disability Certificate has now been replaced with an Eligibility Certificate.

Official Advisory by Ministry of Health

The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) has advised all NEET UG candidates to regularly read the MCC Information Bulletin and visit the official MCC portal for the latest counselling updates, notices, schedules and important instructions.

  • Read the latest MCC Information Bulletin before registration.
  • Visit only the official MCC website for authentic counselling updates.
  • Use the official MCC helpline for counselling-related assistance.

Major System Improvements in MCC Counselling 2026

  • • One-Time Physical Reporting: Candidates opting for the “Willing to Upgrade” (Float) option who have already completed document verification and joined their allotted institute need not report physically again in later rounds.
    • Freeze & Float Options: Candidates selecting Freeze (No Upgradation) must report physically and complete admission formalities. Candidates selecting Float (Willing for Upgradation) can upload documents online for verification instead of visiting the institute again.
    • Online Document Verification: Candidates choosing the Float option can complete document verification online in later rounds, reducing the need for repeated visits to the allotted institute.
    • Online Resignation: Eligible candidates can submit resignation online through the MCC Counselling Portal without visiting the allotted institute.
    • Online NRI Document Upload: Candidates claiming NRI reservation in Deemed Universities can upload and verify supporting documents online through the MCC Counselling Portal.
    • Expanded PwBD Assessment Centres: The number of authorized assessment centres has been increased from 16 to 61 across India, making certification easier for PwBD candidates.
    • 24×7 MCC Helpline: A dedicated toll-free helpline (1800-102-7637) and grievance support system are available for counselling-related assistance.
