National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT)

Established in 1986, NIFT is India’s pioneering institute in fashion education, shaping the future of the textile and apparel industry by offering high-quality professional training and resources. NIFT was made a statutory institute in 2006 by an Act of the Indian Parliament, with the President of India as its Visitor.

With 19 campuses across the country, NIFT is at the forefront of promoting design innovation and providing professional human resources to the fashion and textile sectors. It also serves as a key knowledge partner to both Union and State Governments, contributing to the development and promotion of handlooms, handicrafts, and design.

The NIFT Entrance Exam is an important gateway for students aspiring to join NIFT. Each stage is designed to evaluate specific skills, including design aptitude, general knowledge, and technical expertise.

 

Eligibility Criteria

M.Des (Master of Design) No Age Limit Bachelor’s degree in Design, Fine Arts, Engineering, Architecture, or related fields. Final year students can apply.
M.FTech (Master of Fashion Technology) No Age Limit B.FTech or B.E/B.Tech from a recognized university. Final year students can apply.
MFM (Master of Fashion Management) No Age Limit Bachelor’s degree in any discipline (Fashion, Design, Management, etc.) from a recognized university. Final year students can apply.

 

NIFT Admissions 2025

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the entrance examinations for NIFT admissions in 2025 for various undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), lateral entry (NLEA), and Ph.D. programs. The exams will be held across 82 cities in India, with the Computer Based Test (CBT) for the General Ability Test (GAT) and Pen and Paper Based Test (PBT) for the Creative Ability Test (CAT). Mode of Examination:

  • General Ability Test (GAT): Conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.
  • Creative Ability Test (CAT): Conducted in Pen & Paper Based Test (PBT) mode.
  • The GAT (General Ability Test) will be bilingual (Hindi and English). Candidates can choose their preferred medium while filling out the application form.
  • In case of any discrepancies between Hindi and English versions due to translation, the English version will be treated as final.

Documents Required for NIFT Admission 2025

For NIFT Admission 2025, candidates will need to submit various documents during the application processcounseling, and admission stages. The required documents ensure the eligibility of the candidates and verify their identity, academic qualifications, and category status.

Below is a list of the documents required for NIFT admission:

1. Documents for Online Registration and Application

These documents are necessary to complete your NIFT application.

  1. Photograph:
    • Recent passport-sized color photograph (preferably with a white background).
    • The photo should be in JPG/JPEG format (size: 10 KB to 200 KB).
  2. Signature:
    • A clear scan of the candidate’s signature in black/blue ink on white paper.
    • The signature should be in JPG/JPEG format (size: 4 KB to 30 KB).
  3. Proof of Age(Any one of the following):
    • Class 10th Mark Sheet/Certificate.
    • Birth Certificate issued by the Municipal Corporation or any recognized authority.
  4. Educational Qualification Proof:
    • For B.Des. / B.FTech (Undergraduate Programs):
      • Class 12th or equivalent mark sheet (or final exam appearing certificate).
    • For M.Des. / M.FTech / MFM (Postgraduate Programs):
      • Graduation mark sheet or final degree certificate.
  5. Category Certificate(if applicable):
    • SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS: A valid category certificate issued by the competent authority as per the government rules.
    • PwD: Disability certificate issued by the medical board.
    • OBC-NCL/EWS candidates: Certificates should be valid as of the last date of registration.
  6. NRI/Foreign Nationals:
    • Copy of Passport and Visa (if applicable).
    • A certificate from the Indian Mission confirming the candidate’s foreign status.
  7. Domicile Certificate(if applicable):
    • For candidates seeking admission under the State Quota (if applicable), a valid domicile certificate may be required based on the campus applied for.
