NEET PG Counselling 2026
NEET PG counselling is the gateway to MD, MS, PG Diploma and DNB seats across India. MCC conducts it for 50% All India Quota (AIQ) seats and 100% seats in Deemed Universities, Central Universities, ESIC and AFMS. The process covers registration, choice filling, seat allotment, document verification and reporting.
State quota seats are handled separately by each state.

NEET PG 2026: Important Changes Announced
NBEMS has revised the exam pattern, test state selection, address verification and Aadhaar authentication. Read these before applying.
๐ Exam Pattern Revised
- Questions reduced from 200 to 180
- Marks reduced from 800 to 720
- Each section has 36 questions instead of 40
- More average time per question

- Select up to three preferred test states
- First-Come-First-Serve centre allotment removed
- First preferred state should match your correspondence address
๐ Address Proof Rule
Keep valid proof for your correspondence address. If you choose Delhi as preferred test state, your correspondence address should also be in Delhi.

- Keep Aadhaar biometrics unlocked
- Avoid henna on fingers before the exam
- Iris or alternate verification may be used

- Centres allotted closer to your correspondence address
- Test city info about 3 weeks before exam

- Less long-distance travel

Who Conducts NEET PG Counselling?
- MCC: 50% AIQ seats and 100% seats in Deemed/Central Universities, ESIC and AFMS.
- State authorities: remaining 50% state quota and private college seats.
Eligibility for NEET PG 2026 Counselling
- Qualified NEET PG 2026 as per NBEMS cutoff
- MBBS degree/provisional pass certificate recognised by NMC
- Compulsory internship completed by the date notified
- Valid permanent/provisional NMC or State Medical Council registration
Counselling Process: Round-wise
Round 1
Register and pay, fill and lock choices, allotment, report. Free Exit: if you do not join, deposit is not forfeited and you can go to Round 2. To upgrade, report and give willingness.
Round 2
Fresh registration for new candidates, fresh choice filling. Upgraded candidates must join the new seat. Not joining forfeits deposit.
Round 3
Final upgrade. After joining, no resignation or upgrade. Not joining forfeits deposit and bars further rounds.
Stray Vacancy
Only for candidates with no seat. Not joining forfeits deposit and can debar from NEET PG for one year.

Deemed bond: several deemed colleges have a 1-year service bond (DY Patil Navi Mumbai ~โน10 lakh; Pune up to ~โน50 lakh as noted by some sources; Saveetha ~โน10 lakh); KMC/DY Patil Kolhapur/Sri Ramachandra often report none. Verify in the latest prospectus.
State Quota Counselling
Each state conducts its own 50% govt quota and private seats. Domicile usually applies. Bodies: Karnataka KEA โข Maharashtra CET Cell โข Tamil Nadu TN Health Dept โข UP DGME โข West Bengal WBMCC โข Telangana/AP KNRUHS/YSRUHS. Fees approx โน2,000โ5,000 for application.
