Gujarat MD/MS Medical Fee Hike: 2025-27

Postgraduate medical programs have risen dramatically in fees:

• Govt Quota PG Seats: Increased ₹1 Lakh at ₹2.5 Lakh per annum

• Management Quota PG Seats: Increased by ₹3 Lakh at ₹4 Lakh per annum

Examples:

• NHL Medical College PG Govt Quota fees ₹8.88 Lakh (previously ₹7.93 Lakh)

• H M Patel Institute Govt Quota fees ₹21 Lakh (previously ₹20.28 Lakh)

• NHL Medical College PG Management Quota fees ₹30.17 Lakh(previously ₹26.94 Lakh)

• Surat Municipal Corporation Medical College PG seat with the highest fees. 41.61 Lakh/year.

GMERS Colleges Fee Hike

In 2024, GMERS Colleges raised tuition fees for the MBBS program for the state quota and all-India quota from ₹3.3 lakh to ₹5.5 lakh, a 66% hike. The management quota fee increased by 87% from ₹9.075 lakh to ₹17 lakh each year. As a result of immense protests from students and the medical community, the Gujarat government partially rolled back the GMERS fee structure at a later date.

NRI Quota MBBS Fees in Gujarat Also Increased

  • The NRI MBBS seat fee rose from $22,000 to $25,000 per year, reflecting a 13% increase.
  • The new NRI fee structure applies across various private medical colleges in Gujarat.
Why the Hike in Medical Fees?

The Fee Regulatory Committee indicated the fee increase is due to audits of the performance of the colleges. Of the increase, 7% accounts for inflation and 5% for increased administrative expenses, which means that the fee increase is from 8% inflation adjustment and 4.5 administrative expense and also calculating for across the board spending from colleges.  The Gujarat medical college fee increase for 2025-27 makes MBBS and PG medical education costs exponentially more for applying under the management quota. The application went on to advise aspirants to forecast their budget and keep track of any upgrade policy.
