News 1: Start of Round 1 of Assam NEET UG 2025 Counselling

The Round 1 of Assam NEET UG 2026 counselling will be conducted by the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Assam. Online registration will begin from 24th July to 29th July 2025 on www.dme.assam.gov.in. Candidates can fill and lock choices between 30th July and 2nd August, and the seat allotment result will be declared on 6th August 2025.

This round is only for state quota MBBS/BDS seats in government colleges. Candidates from all categories (General, Reserved, PWD, and Special categories) must participate in this online process.

News 2: Revised Assam NEET UG 2025 Merit List Released

The revised merit list for Round 1 of Assam NEET UG 2025 counselling was released on 15th July 2025 by DME Assam. A total of 19,823 candidates are included, an increase from 19,809 in the provisional list. Candidates can now prepare for the first round of counselling, which starts on 24th July.

Those applying under special categories like Freedom Fighters, Martyr of Assam Movement, Ex-servicemen, and Sports Quota must appear for document verification on 18th July 2025 at the DME office.

Eligibility Criteria for Assam NEET Counselling 2026

To participate in Assam NEET counselling, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• NEET UG 2026 Qualified: Must have cleared the NEET UG exam with the required cutoff.
• Domicile Requirement: Must be a permanent resident of Assam or have studied in the state for a defined period.
• Age Limit: Must be 17 years or older as of 31st December 2026.

1. Online Registration

• Visit the official counselling website once registration starts.

• Pay the non-refundable counselling fee (approx. ₹500).

2. Publication of Merit List

• The state merit list is prepared based on NEET scores.
• Only candidates in this merit list are eligible to participate in choice filling and allotment.

3. Choice Filling & Locking

• Select preferred colleges and courses in order of priority.
• Once submitted, choices cannot be changed.

4. Seat Allotment

• Based on NEET score, state rank, category, and preferences, seat allotment is done.
• Download the allotment letter for further admission steps.

5. Document Verification & Reporting

• Candidates must report physically to the allotted college within the stipulated time.
• Submit original documents for verification and confirm admission.

6. Subsequent Rounds

• Unfilled seats are carried forward to Round 2 and Mop-Up rounds.
• Candidates can participate in multiple rounds based on eligibility and willingness for seat upgrade.

Assam NEET Counselling 2026 – Registration Fee & Security Deposit

Registration Fee

• This is a non-refundable fee.

• Payment can be made through online banking, UPI, debit/credit cards, or bank challan (as per portal instructions).

2. Security Deposit

• This is a refundable amount.
• It is mandatory only for candidates participating in choice filling.
• The deposit is forfeited if a seat is allotted but the candidate fails to join/report.
• It will be refunded after counselling if no seat is allotted or after joining college (as per DME Assam’s refund process).

• Candidates opting for only government colleges usually pay ₹10,000.
• Those selecting private or both government and private colleges are required to pay ₹1,00,000.
