Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya (CSKHPKV), Palampur, was established on 1 November 1978 and renamed as CSKHPKV in June 2001. It is Himachal Pradesh's premier agricultural and veterinary university, dedicated to providing quality education, research, and extension services in Agriculture, Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Community Science, and Basic Sciences.

The University comprises four constituent colleges including Dr. G.C. Negi College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (COVAS), along with the Directorate of Research, Directorate of Extension Education, eight Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), and a Students' Welfare Organisation. It currently offers 7 Bachelor's, 27 Master's, and 16 Doctoral programmes.

About B.V.Sc. & A.H.

The Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) programme is offered by the Dr. G.C. Negi College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (COVAS), established in 1986 as a model veterinary college for the hilly regions of India. The college is accredited by ICAR and approved under the Veterinary Council of India (VCI) norms.

Course Duration

5ยฝ professional years including one year of compulsory internship, with a maximum permissible duration of 9 academic years (excluding internship).

Admission Criteria

Admission is based entirely on the NTA Score Qualified NEET (UG)-2026 Merit List. No separate entrance examination is conducted by the University.

Academic Departments

The programme is supported by 18 specialised departments following VCI Minimum Standards of Veterinary Education (MSVE-2016), covering both clinical and pre-clinical veterinary sciences.

Clinical Training

COVAS operates the only Referral Veterinary Hospital of Himachal Pradesh, providing students with extensive hands-on clinical exposure through the Veterinary Clinical Complex and Livestock Farm Complex.

Admission Overview

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized Board, University or Council.

Required Subjects

English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology are compulsory subjects.

Minimum Marks

50% aggregate for General/OBC/EWS and 47.5% aggregate for SC/ST/PWBD candidates.

Foreign Qualification

Equivalent qualification with required English proficiency (TOEFL/IELTS) wherever applicable.

Appearing Candidates

Candidates appearing in Class 12 examination may also apply subject to producing original documents during admission.

Admission Process

Admission to the B.V.Sc. & A.H. programme at CSKHPKV Palampur is conducted strictly on the basis of the Qualified NEET (UG)-2026 Merit List. Candidates must complete every stage of the admission process within the prescribed schedule announced by the University.

Online Registration

Register online through the CSKHPKV admission portal and submit the completed application form along with self-attested copies of all required certificates and documents as prescribed in the Counselling Proforma (Annexure IX).

Pay Application Fee

Pay the prescribed online application fee according to your category and programme choices. Candidates opting for Self Financing Seats (SFS) must also pay the applicable additional fee.

Appear in NEET (UG)-2026

Qualify the NTA NEET (UG)-2026 examination and furnish the Roll Number, Score, Rank and Score Card to the University after declaration of the NEET result.

Merit List Publication

The University publishes the category-wise provisional Select/Waiting List on its website. Candidates are given 48 hours to submit objections through e-mail with their application number and name.

Counselling & Admission

After publication of the final merit list, Counselling-cum-Registration & Admission Round-I is conducted, followed by Round-II from the waiting list wherever seats remain vacant.

Mop-up / Walk-in Admission

Remaining vacant seats are filled through the Final Counselling/Mop-up Round. If seats still remain vacant, the University may conduct Walk-in Admission within 10 days as per merit.

Counselling Process

During Counselling

  • Report personally at Dr. G.C. Negi College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, CSKHPKV Palampur by 11:00 AM on the scheduled date.
  • Fill the Counselling Proforma completely and attach self-attested photocopies of all required documents.
  • Produce all original documents before the Counselling-cum-Registration Committee for verification.
  • Non-reporting on the scheduled date and time leads to forfeiture of candidature.

After Seat Confirmation

  • Deposit the prescribed admission fee on the same day through the approved payment mode.
  • Complete registration before 4:00 PM by meeting the Advisor/HOD and enrolling in courses.
  • Deposit hostel charges separately if hostel accommodation is allotted.
  • Submit the Medical Fitness Certificate and complete the mandatory Online Anti-Ragging Undertaking.
Important: Candidates must appear personally during Counselling-cum-Registration with all original documents. Failure to complete document verification, fee payment or registration within the prescribed time may result in cancellation of the allotted seat.

Reservation Policy

Reservation of seats for the B.V.Sc. & A.H. programme is governed by the University rules and the applicable Government of Himachal Pradesh reservation policy.

Important Reservation Rules

  • Candidates selected in the General Merit are counted against General Category seats even if they belong to a reserved category.
  • Vacant seats after Counselling Round-I are filled from the waiting list during Round-II.
  • Remaining vacant seats are filled category-wise during the Final Counselling / Mop-up Round according to the admission rules.
  • Vacant ICAR/VCI quota seats, where applicable, may be filled by the University as per the prescribed admission procedure.
  • Conversion of vacant reserved category seats is carried out only as provided in the University's admission rules during the final counselling/mop-up round.

Hostel Fee

Hostel accommodation is provided subject to availability. Candidates allotted hostel accommodation are required to deposit the prescribed hostel charges separately through the designated online payment system in favour of the Students' Welfare Officer.

Important: Hostel charges are not included in the admission fee and must be deposited separately after hostel allotment. Students are also required to submit the payment receipt to the Office of the Students' Welfare Officer.

Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry
