📋 General Admission Regulations

• All courses and admissions to the College are subject to applicable regulations by University / Government / Statutory bodies / National Medical Commission.
• Admissions to CMC, Vellore are through the process described in the Prospectus & Admission Bulletin.
• No fee or donation or any other payments are accepted in lieu of admissions, other than what has been prescribed in the prospectus.

⚠️ Important Information

All processes related to admissions for the MBBS course are subject to the orders that may be passed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court or the High Court or any legislation that may be passed relating to NEET, common counselling or any other statutory enactments that may be passed by the Central or State Government.

🎓 Medical Education at CMC

• In 1918, Dr. Ida Scudder initiated the LMP (Licentiate Medical Practitioner) programme.
• The programme was later upgraded to the MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) course in 1942.
• The CMC curriculum is a unique hybrid programme that combines:

• All candidates applying to CMC, Vellore for MBBS also have to apply to the Tamil Nadu Selection Committee for counselling process.
• Candidates who have applied for the MBBS course may also apply for Nursing / Allied Health Science Degree courses for up to a maximum of 7 courses including MBBS.

🪑 MBBS Seat Matrix – 2026

A) Management Quota

• 50% of the seats shall be filled up by the management by the same procedure that was being followed for earlier academic years by the college on the basis of inter-se merit as per the NEET results.
• Categories for admission for 50% management seats: Selections are based on three broad categories –
  • Open
  • Minority Network
  • CMC Vellore Staff Quota
• Based on NEET (UG) 2026 rank.

• Open: Any candidate who fulfils the eligibility criteria.
• Minority Network:
  • In this category, seats are allotted based on inter-se merit.
  • The aim of the Christian Medical College, Vellore is to train individuals for service in needy areas, especially in Christian mission hospitals.
  • Any Christian Church or Organization which is a member of the Christian Medical College Vellore Association or Council, which operates its own medical work, and Christian Medical College Vellore Association or Council can sponsor candidates for MBBS course run by CMC Vellore.
  • To this end, eligible Christian students are encouraged to apply under this category.
  • For the list of eligible Minority Network organizations, please refer to Annexure I.
• CMC Vellore Staff Quota: Seats are allotted in this category based on merit to children of eligible members of the staff of CMC Vellore, as per institutional rules.

B) Government Quota

• 50% of the seats will be filled by the State Government from the state merit list of NEET examination in the following manner:
  • (i) 30% of the seats will be filled by the State Government following its policy of reservation strictly in accordance with the NEET merit list.
  • (ii) 20% of the seats shall be filled by the State Government candidates belonging to the Christian minority from the State strictly in accordance with the NEET merit list.

📋 Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates should have completed the age of 17 years on or before 31 Dec 2026.
• All candidates should have obtained a minimum of marks at 50th percentile in the NEET-UG 2026 examination.
• As per TN Government and University guidelines, a candidate for admission to the medical course must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (or Botany and Zoology taken together)/Biotechnology at the qualifying examination and 40% aggregate for BC, MBC, SC/ST candidates.

(BC/MBC-denotified community/SC/ST are as defined by the Government of India or any of the States).

(All rules are subject to change as per TN Government and University guidelines).

The following qualifications are considered equivalent to the Plus Two Examination of the Higher Secondary Board of Tamil Nadu for the purpose of admission, subject to “Eligibility Certificate” applicable by the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai:

• Intermediate examination, Pre-Degree Examination or Plus Two Examination of any recognized Indian University or State Board.
• The Senior Higher School Certificate Examination (12 years) conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi (with not less than 5 subjects, of which English shall be one).
• The Indian School Certificate Examination (12 years) conducted by the Council for Indian School Examination.
• Intermediate Examination (two year course) conducted by the Board of Intermediate Education, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh.
• Pre-University Examination (two year course) conducted by the Board of Pre-University Education, Government of Karnataka.

For candidates who have studied abroad:

• The equivalency of qualification as determined by the Association of Indian Universities will form the guidelines to determine the eligibility.
• Please note that these are only guidelines and candidates who have qualified abroad must get in touch with the Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University.

📜 Eligibility Certificate

• Candidates who have passed any qualifying examination other than the Higher Secondary course examination conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu, CBSE & CISCE in India shall obtain an eligibility certificate from the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai by remitting the prescribed fee along with the application form before seeking admission to any one of the affiliated Medical Institutions.
• The candidate will be required to produce the eligibility certificate at the time of registration for admission to the course if selected.

• Despite the extensive medical services provided by the hospitals and community outreach, the mission statement makes it clear that CMC's primary concern is education, training and professional development.
• There is a commitment to ensure that the cost of education should not be a barrier to anyone desiring to pursue a course at CMC.
• The course fees are heavily subsidized; for example, the annual fee for MBBS excluding accommodation is Rs. 31,000/- after the first year even though the full cost per student is estimated at several lakhs per annum.
• Students who find it difficult to meet even these low fees are encouraged to apply for scholarships which are available for all undergraduate courses (Medicine, Nursing and Allied Health Sciences).
• Scholarships are awarded according to economic status and cover all or part of the fees and accommodation costs.
• The low fees emphasize that education is a gift to be shared and not sold.
• The intention is that those who benefit will share the fruits of their experience in learning at CMC, Vellore through service to humanity.

🖥 The Application Process

• Applications can be accessed online only at: http://admissions.cmcvellore.ac.in
• From date mentioned in admission time table section.
• The last date for online application submission, with payment of application fee along with supporting documents is on the date given in admission time table section.
• The application fee includes a basic administrative fee of Rs. 200/- plus a registration fee of Rs. 500/-.
• The same online application form should be used for applying to BSc Nursing & AHS Degree Courses with an additional amount of Rs. 500/- per course.

💳 Payment Instructions

• Please note that a maximum of 7 courses including MBBS can be applied for.
• The application fee can be paid by any one of the methods given below:
  • Online payment using Credit Card / Debit Card / Net Banking / UPI.
  • Use only your own (or parents / guardians) credit card / debit card / net banking for these transactions.
  • When using a credit card / debit card / net banking, if the transaction is not successful, please check with your bank.
  • If it has been debited, please send us an email to registrar@cmcvellore.ac.in and we will follow it up.
  • If the amount has been debited, please wait for 24–48 hours. The transaction is likely to be completed OR will probably be refunded to you by your bank in which case you will need to do the payment process again.
• Your application number will be generated only after payment of the application fee as mentioned above. Without payment of the application fee the application will not be registered.

⚠️ Important Note: APPLICATION FEE WILL NOT BE REFUNDED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

Very Important Note: All candidates applying to CMC Vellore for MBBS also have to apply to the Tamil Nadu Selection Committee for the counselling process in the relevant category.

📝 Before Filling the Online Application

1. Ensure completeness of the application form
   • It is the responsibility of the candidate to read the instructions and ensure completeness of the application form.
   • An incomplete form will be summarily rejected.
2. Create email ID if you don't have one
   • Create an email ID if you do not have one.
   • All communications will be sent by e-mail and SMS only.
   • Please ensure that the email and mobile number are correct.
3. Keep soft copy of your photograph and signature ready
   • Keep a soft copy of your photograph and signature ready before filling application form.
   • Photograph must be recent passport size photograph (and full face view directly looking at the camera).
   • File size should not be more than 80 KB (Width: 150 pixels & Height: 150 pixels).
   • Signature file size should not be more than 50 KB (Width: 150 pixels).
4. Ensure correctness of order of preference
   • When applying for other courses in addition to MBBS, candidates must list the courses in the order of preference in the application form.
   • There is common application form for:
     • Group A: MBBS, BSc Nursing CMC Vellore – Vellore Campus, & AHS Degree Courses
     • Group B: Diploma in Nursing, Allied Health Science Diplomas
     • Group C: BSc Nursing College of Nursing, CMC Vellore – College of Nursing, Bagayam
     • Group D: BSc Nursing CMC Vellore – College of Nursing, Community Health
   • Candidates may apply for a combination of courses in Group A, Group B & BSc Nursing courses by College of Nursing, CMC Vellore, College of Nursing.
   • The candidate can apply only once per year.
   • Only one application submission is considered.
   • Once submitted and payment done, no changes can be made in the application form.

🏆 Selection Process – 50% Management Seats

Selection to the MBBS course in CMC Vellore is done through counselling by Tamil Nadu Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education, Chennai.

a) NEET (UG)-2026 Score Submission at CMC Website

• Once the NEET (UG)-2026 results are announced, MBBS applicants have to sign in to the application site using their application number and date of birth.
• Applicants must enter their NEET (UG) 2026 Roll number, Score and All India Rank at the CMC website.

b) Application to the Tamil Nadu Selection Committee for Counselling

• MBBS applicants to CMC Vellore have to apply to the Tamil Nadu Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education, Chennai – 10, for Counselling for MBBS admission under the Management quota for Christian Minority seats in Self-financing Medical Colleges of Tamil Nadu.

• Only those candidates whose names appear in the Tamil Nadu Management quota rank list for seats in Self-financing Medical Colleges of Tamil Nadu will be eligible for MBBS 50% Management Quota admission at CMC Vellore.

c) Tamil Nadu Management Quota Application Number Submission at CMC Website

• MBBS applicants have to enter their Tamil Nadu Management quota Application number at the CMC website within a fixed period of time, which will be notified later if required.

d) Counselling by Tamil Nadu Selection Committee (DME) for MBBS Admission

• The counselling process will be conducted as per the Tamil Nadu Selection Committee.
