About the Hospital
The Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, originally established in 1909 during British rule, has grown into a major tertiary care and teaching facility in western Tamil Nadu. The foundation stone was laid in 1908 by Lord Ampthill, and the hospital was later administered by the Madras Province from 1912 onward. In 1969, the Directorate of Medical Education took over its administration and renamed it as the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital. Located on Trichy Road near Lanka Corner, just a kilometer from Coimbatore Junction, the hospital is a vital healthcare institution catering to a wide population. It provides students clinical exposure across various departments including general medicine, surgery, pediatrics, orthopedics, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, and more.
