Dr. B.R. Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS Mohali ) is the fourth medical college of the Punjab State Government which is being established under the centrally sponsored Scheme of “Establishment of new medical colleges by upgrading district/referral hospitals”. The institute has received its first letter of permission from its regulatory body National Medical Commission (NMC) and has received its first batch of 100 MBBS students for the Academic session of 2021 -2022.
The institute is committed to create an ambient environment for nurturing innovation, creativity and excellence preparing the next generation of physicians to carry this path forward in the years ahead. The institute is also completely on board with the new competency based medical education and is developing innovative approaches to medical education that are irrevocably engaging and compelling. To keep up with our tech savvy students we aim to enhance education by increased use of simulations, evolving technologies ,resourcesand above all we need to listen to the students and figure out what is working for this generation.
The Teaching hospital and Medical college are inter-connected with a 2 min walking distance. Hospital consists of two Blocks-block 1 and block 2 . It is a 420-bedded hospital with 15 units of different specialties.
In last 6 months the hospital recorded OPD attendance of 163396.
The major operation theatres recorded a load of 1886 cases in the last 6 months. All specialties have separate wards for male and female inpatient admissions.
AIMS Mohali campus has a physically handicapped-friendly, separate parking areas, a cafeteria, and is well connected with Urban and Rural health centres for training undergraduates under community medicine.
