Fakir Mohan Medical College & Hospital (FMMCH) was established in 2018 by the Government of Odisha to address the shortage of medical professionals and healthcare services in the northern districts of the state. Named after Fakir Mohan Senapati, a pioneer of modern Odia literature, the college stands as a tribute to the cultural and intellectual legacy of Odisha. FMMCH is affiliated with the Odisha University of Health Sciences and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC). It currently offers 100 MBBS seats annually. The college was inaugurated by Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik and is equipped with modern academic and residential infrastructure, serving as a vital institution for aspiring doctors in the Balasore, Bhadrak, and Mayurbhanj regions.

About the Hospital

The teaching hospital attached to FMMCH has been developed by upgrading the former District Headquarters Hospital into a tertiary care facility. It serves a large patient base from Balasore and nearby districts, offering departments such as general medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, and orthopedics. The hospital is around 6 km from the main college campus, which spreads over more than 20 acres, ensuring robust clinical exposure and hands-on training for students.
