Government Medical College, Aurangabad is a medical school affiliated to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik. The College is recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI), New Delhi for medical education in India. It was founded in 1956. At present, the college accepts 200 students per year for the undergraduate course MBBS and around 127 students per year for the various postgraduate courses.
The college is located on the east bank of Kham river in northwest part of Aurangabad city, very close to famous tourist attractions like Panchakki, Bibi Ka Maqbara and
Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University.
The hospital provides qualified, dedicated staff and modern equipment’s in all clinical, Para-clinical & pre-clinical departments. The 1802 bedded hospital caters medical services with ultra-modern facilities for patient care on outpatient basis (OPD) and in patient basis (IPD).The patient flow on an average was 27810/month OPD and 5650/month IPD in the year 2010-2011. Specialty services have been the reason behind the phenomenal growth of this hospital.
The hospital has Super-specialty setup CVTS (cardiovascular thoracic surgery). The services rendered by this department are improving with reference to approved standards. With the availability of more facilities and resources in near future super-specialty courses like Cardiology, Cardiothoracic surgery, Anesthesiology, Transfusion medicine etc. will be provided. Once these courses will commence then 24X7 super-specialty patient care will be provided by the Super-specialty doctors.
