Eligibility Requirements

Academic Requirements

• Must have qualified NEET-UG 2026.

• Must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examinations in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English.

• Minimum Marks: 50% (General), 40% (SC/ST/OBC), and 45% (PwD).

Domicile / State Quota Eligibility (as per AMRU Prospectus 2026)

• Bonafide Himachalis, or children of bonafide Himachalis, who have passed at least two exams (out of Middle/Matric/10+1/10+2 or equivalent) from recognized schools/colleges situated in Himachal Pradesh and affiliated to ICSE/CBSE/HPBOSE or equivalent Boards/Universities.

• Children of Central Government employees, employees of certain autonomous bodies working within HP, serving Judges of the HP High Court, or regular HP Government/HP Government Undertaking employees – subject to specified continuous-service and schooling conditions (considered Unreserved category only).

• Certain categories of children of bonafide Himachalis working outside the State (with Central Government, other State Governments, or in Defence/Para-Military services) may also be eligible under specific exemption clauses – refer to the official Prospectus (Section IV) for full conditions and required certificates.

• Candidates from outside HP can take part in Management Quota seats in private colleges (subject to eligibility criteria for Management Quota).

Step-by-step process of counseling

1. Online Registration

To register online, go to the AMRU website (www.amruhp.ac.in) and create a profile. Fill in your personal, academic, and NEET information correctly. Pay the counseling fee depending on your category (see fee table above).

2. Choice Filling & Locking

After registration, candidates can fill in their preferences of colleges/courses. You can modify your choices until the end. Make sure to lock your final preferences.

Fee Structure (2026, Official – Government Institutions)

Per Govt. of HP letter dated 19.05.2026 and DMER Shimla letter dated 05.06.2026, MBBS tuition fee is now charged for 4½ years instead of 5 (per letter dated 10.08.2026, 5th year fee is charged as half the annual amount).

Fee Waivers: As per Govt. Notification dated 22.08.2017 (amended 10.06.2025), no tuition fee is charged from BPL-category students admitted to MBBS/BDS in Government Medical/Dental Colleges, irrespective of quota or domicile (latest BPL certificate required at the time of fee deposit). As per AMRU notification dated 15.05.2025, students with special needs having more than 40% disability are exempted from all fees.
