📝Admission Process Overview

• Admissions are conducted through a Common Application Process.
• Candidates must submit only one application.
• Individual applications to specific programmes are NOT required.

• B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE)
• B.Tech. in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI&DS)

Integrated M.Tech. (I.M.Tech.) Programmes

• I.M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE)
• I.M.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE)
• All five programmes are covered under a unified application system.
• Candidates must indicate programme preferences during application.

📢Latest Announcement (As on 25 February 2026)

• Online Application Pre-Registration opened on 25 February 2026.
• Complete Application Submission opened on 20 April 2026, after JEE Main final results.

📋Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must:

• Have completed 10+2 (or equivalent).
• Have secured a First-Class grade.
• Have studied Mathematics as one of the subjects.

Applicants who are expected to meet the above qualification requirements by July 2026 are also eligible to apply.

Entrance Requirement:

• A valid JEE Main 2026 score is mandatory.

Additional Conditions: Any additional eligibility criteria will be notified on the official website.

🏆Selection Process – 2026 Admissions

Admissions will be based on:

• Candidate’s best All India Rank (AIR) of 2026, obtained in:
  • JEE Main conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), or
  • JEE Advanced
• The best rank from either examination will be considered.

🏠 Mandatory Residential Requirement (Applicable to All M.Tech. Programmes)

• The M.Tech. programme is academically demanding. Classes, tutorials, and laboratory sessions often extend beyond regular working hours and during weekends.
• Staying in the hostel accommodation provided by the Institute is mandatory.
• Hostel Allocation:
  • Male students will be provided accommodation in an off-campus hostel facility arranged by IIITB.
  • Female students will be provided on-campus hostel accommodation.
  • Hostel fee rates are uniformly applicable to all students irrespective of hostel location.

• GATE scores valid as of June 1, 2025 are considered.
• There is no fixed cut-off; cut-offs vary each year based on applications.

⏱️ Minimum Duration of Programmes

• Integrated Ph.D.: 4 years
• Ph.D.: 3 years
• M.S. (By Research): 2 years

🎓 M.S. (By Research)

• Applicants must:
  • Hold a four-year Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (B.E., B.Tech., or equivalent)
  • Have a good academic record
• Shortlisted applicants:
  • Should have taken a national entrance examination, OR
  • Will be required to take a domain-specific entrance examination at IIIT-Bangalore before interview, as specified by the concerned research domain

🎓 Integrated Ph.D.

• Applicants must:
  • Hold a 4-year (8-semester) undergraduate degree in a relevant branch of engineering or science
  • Have at least 75% in undergraduate marks
• Relaxation:
  • 75% requirement may be relaxed only in case of exceptional proof of research ability (e.g., research publications)
• Additional Requirement:
  • Valid GATE score in a relevant subject
• Shortlisting based on:
  • Undergraduate marks
  • GATE scores

🎓 Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)

• Applicants must:
  • Hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent)
  • Have a good academic and technical track record
• As per UGC criteria, shortlisted applicants must have taken either:
  • A national entrance examination (as specified by concerned research domains), OR
  • A domain-specific entrance examination at IIIT-Bangalore before interview
• Applicants with UGC-NET or similar Research Fellowships may avail of them at IIIT-B, subject to selection through the Institute’s process.

💻 Computer Science & Software Engineering

• GATE or GRE score taken in last five years needed
• Candidates with suitable experience may apply without GATE/GRE; waiver possible
  • Such candidates must clear written test at IIIT-B covering:

📊 Data Science

• GATE in relevant engineering domain required

• GATE desirable but not mandatory
• Shortlisting based on academic background

🌐 Networking, Communications & Signal Processing

• Degree Requirements:
  • M.S. (By Research): B.E./B.Tech. in ECE/CS/IT
  • Ph.D.: M.E./M.Tech. in ECE/CS/IT/Networking/Communication/Signal Processing

  • M.S. requires good background in above core subjects

  • Good GATE score exempts written test

🔬 Physics

• Ph.D.:
  • M.Sc. in Physics or M.E./M.Tech. in related disciplines
  • Qualified CSIR-UGC NET, UGC-NET, GATE, or JEST candidates may be exempt from written test
  • M.Phil. candidates eligible
• Integrated Ph.D.:
  • 4-year UG degree in Physics (BS/B.Sc. Hons)
  • Valid GATE score
• Selection based on entrance score/written test and interview

📐 Mathematics

• Ph.D.:
  • Master’s in Engineering or Mathematics/Applied Mathematics
  • CSIR-UGC NET or NBHM qualified candidates may be exempt from written test
  • M.Phil. candidates eligible
• Integrated Ph.D.:
  • 4-year UG degree in Mathematics/Applied Mathematics/Engineering/Physics/allied discipline
  • Valid GATE score
• Selection based on entrance score/written test and interview

🏛️ Digital Humanities & Societal Systems

• Eligible applicants include:
  • Master’s degree holders in social sciences (for M.S. & Ph.D.)
  • 4-year Bachelor’s in Engineering/Sciences/Math/Statistics (for M.S. or Integrated Ph.D.)
  • Master’s in Engineering (for Ph.D.)
• Encouraged entrance scores:
  • GATE
  • JRF
  • NET
  • GRE
  • GMAT
• Applicants without such scores may apply:
  • Written examination required at interview stage
  • Strong writing skills essential
  • Fieldwork experience useful but not essential
  • IT industry experience desirable for some topics

💰 Tuition Fee Structure

• Per semester tuition fee:
  • Year 1 & 2: Rs. 77,000
  • Year 3 & 4: Rs. 92,000
  • Year 5: Rs. 1,02,000
• Payable until thesis submission
• Subject to revision
• Alumni contribution and convocation charges will be levied at graduation as per rules in force

💵 Stipend (2025–26 Rates)

• M.S. (By Research): INR 20,000 per month
• Ph.D.:
  • INR 38,500 per month till Comprehensive Exam
  • INR 43,500 per month after Comprehensive Exam
  • Paid for 5 years
• Integrated Ph.D.:
  • INR 20,000 per month till Comprehensive Exam
  • INR 43,500 per month after Comprehensive Exam

🏠 Hostel & Residential Policy

• Hostel facility subject to availability
• Accommodation:
  • Male scholars: Off-campus hostel arranged by IIIT-B
  • Female scholars: On-campus hostel
• Uniform fee applicable irrespective of location
• Estimated Charges:
  • Hostel: INR 39,000 per semester
  • Mess: INR 28,800 per semester
  • Medical Insurance: INR 2,000 per year
  • Caution Deposit: INR 19,000
• Rates subject to revision
• Students must budget for books, travel, laptop purchase, and personal expenses
