Maharashtra AYUSH Counselling 2026 - Overview

The Maharashtra State CET Cell is the competent authority for admissions under the Maharashtra Health Science counselling process. For BAMS, BHMS and BUMS, the Director of AYUSH, Mumbai is the nodal officer.

Admission to BAMS, BHMS and BUMS is based on the candidate's NEET UG 2026 performance and merit. NEET UG 2026 was conducted by NTA on 21 June 2026.

Courses Offered

Maharashtra AYUSH counselling covers the following major undergraduate AYUSH courses: BAMS, BHMS and BUMS.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfil the eligibility conditions prescribed in the Maharashtra Health Science Information Brochure for NEET UG 2026.

For Maharashtra State Quota seats, candidates must satisfy the applicable domicile requirements, subject to the exceptions mentioned in the brochure.

NEET UG Qualifying Criteria

Qualification in NEET UG 2026 is mandatory for admission to BAMS, BHMS and BUMS through the applicable Maharashtra AYUSH counselling process.

Candidates belonging to applicable reserved categories must satisfy the qualifying percentile prescribed under the prevailing rules.

BUMS Eligibility Criteria 

Candidates applying for BUMS must fulfil the additional language-related eligibility requirements prescribed in the Maharashtra brochure.

Institutional Quota Eligibility

Institutional Quota seats are applicable to BAMS, BHMS and BUMS in unaided private/minority colleges. Eligible candidates can participate on an All India basis, subject to the applicable eligibility conditions.

Admission to these Institutional Quota seats is based on NEET UG 2026 rank on an All India basis, including eligible NRI, OCI and OMS candidates.

Important Dates

The Maharashtra AYUSH Counselling 2026 schedule includes registration, document verification, merit list publication, choice filling, seat allotment and reporting for admission to BAMS, BHMS and BUMS. The latest CAP Round 1 schedule for AYUSH Group B has been released by the Maharashtra State CET Cell.

Maharashtra AYUSH Counselling 2026 Registration

Candidates who have qualified NEET UG 2026 and wish to participate in Maharashtra State Quota counselling for BAMS, BHMS or BUMS must complete the online registration process through the Maharashtra State CET Cell.

The online application is common for seats available under the Competent Authority, including Government, Corporation, Government Aided, Unaided Private and Minority institutions. Candidates must submit the application within the prescribed registration period.

Registration Fee

The application fee is non-refundable. Candidates should check their eligibility before submitting the application and paying the applicable fee.

Institutional Quota Registration

Candidates can opt for 15% Institutional Quota seats in BAMS, BHMS and BUMS at unaided private/minority colleges while completing the online application.

Admission to these seats is based on NEET UG 2026 rank on an All India basis, including eligible NRI, OCI and OMS candidates.

Maharashtra AYUSH Counselling 2026 Seat Matrix

The Maharashtra AYUSH counselling seat structure for BAMS, BHMS and BUMS includes provisions for State Quota, Institutional Quota and All India Quota.

State Quota

85% seats under the State Quota are available for eligible candidates from Maharashtra and are filled on the basis of the NEET UG 2026 State Merit List. Constitutional, specified and female reservations are applicable to these seats as per the prevailing rules.

Institutional Quota

15% Institutional Quota seats for BAMS, BHMS and BUMS in unaided private/minority colleges are filled on an All India basis through the Maharashtra CET Cell's online CAP process.

Eligible NRI, OCI and OMS candidates can also participate in this quota, subject to the applicable eligibility conditions.

AYUSH All India Quota

For BAMS, BHMS and BUMS, 15% All India Quota seats are filled through AACCC. Vacant AYUSH AIQ seats reverted by AACCC may subsequently be included in the Maharashtra online CAP process as per the applicable rules.

Reservation

Reservation under Maharashtra State Quota is provided according to the applicable constitutional and specified reservation rules. Candidates claiming a reserved category or EWS status must claim it in the original Maharashtra State online application form.

A fresh request to change from Open to a reserved category after submission of the application is not accepted.

Constitutional Reservation

Candidates claiming reservation must submit the required original certificates, wherever applicable.

If the required documents are not uploaded or produced within the prescribed period, the candidate may be considered under the Open Category, provided the candidate fulfils the Open Category eligibility requirements.

EWS Reservation

The brochure provides 10% EWS reservation of the available State Quota seats in Government, Corporation and Government Aided Colleges, subject to the applicable rules and conditions.

The exact eligibility conditions and supporting documents vary according to the reservation category.

Choice Filling

Choice filling is an important stage of Maharashtra AYUSH counselling because seat allotment is based on NEET UG 2026 merit and the preferences submitted by the candidate.

For Group B – BAMS/BHMS/BUMS, candidates have to submit fresh preferences separately for each counselling round.

Choices submitted in one regular round do not carry forward to the next round. However, choices submitted in an Online Stray Vacancy Round may be carried forward to subsequent Online Stray Vacancy Rounds, if conducted.

Important Choice Filling Rules

• Candidates can fill a minimum of one preference and as many preferences as they want.
• It is not compulsory to fill all available choices.
• The most preferred college and course should be placed at Preference No. 1.
• Once submitted, choices cannot be changed, added or deleted for that round.
• Candidates should carefully check the college, course and quota before submitting preferences.

Understanding S and N Codes

For example, the brochure lists 3101S – R.A. Podar Ayurved, Mumbai – BAMS State and 3277N – Datta Meghe Ayurved College, Nagpur – BAMS Institutional.

Candidates applying for Institutional Quota must have opted for Institutional Quota during registration and paid the applicable ₹5,000 application fee.

NRI/ward of NRI candidates can fill Institutional Quota preferences with the N suffix and are not eligible for State Quota preferences. OMS candidates can also apply for Institutional Quota seats subject to the prescribed conditions.

Candidates should verify the applicable State Quota and Institutional Quota fee structure before submitting preferences. The brochure directs candidates to check the fee structure of private and minority colleges on the Fees Regulating Authority (mahafra.org) website.

Maharashtra AYUSH Counselling Process 2026

Maharashtra AYUSH Counselling 2026 for BAMS, BHMS and BUMS is conducted through the centralized online counselling process of the Maharashtra State CET Cell. Candidates who qualify NEET UG 2026 and wish to participate must complete online registration within the prescribed schedule.

Step-by-Step Process

Proxy reporting is not allowed. Candidates receiving an allotment must personally report to the allotted college and complete the admission formalities within the prescribed deadline.

Counselling Rounds

The Maharashtra brochure provides for Round 1, Round 2, Round 3 and Online Stray Vacancy Round(s) for BAMS, BHMS and BUMS, depending on seat availability.

Candidates allotted a seat in Round 3 must complete joining within the prescribed schedule. For stray vacancy rounds, fresh preferences are required and allotment is made through the centralized online system according to merit and available seats.

Maharashtra AYUSH Counselling 2026 Fees Structure

Candidates should distinguish between the counselling application fee and the college admission/tuition fee. The application fee is paid during registration, while the college fee depends on the institution, course, quota and applicable fee structure.

Application Fee

The Maharashtra AYUSH counselling application fee is non-refundable.

College Tuition Fees

The tuition fee for BAMS, BHMS and BUMS in Maharashtra varies according to the college, course, quota and category. Government and Government-aided colleges generally have much lower fees than private unaided colleges.

For private colleges, the applicable fee is regulated by the Fees Regulating Authority (FRA), Maharashtra. Candidates should verify the college-wise approved fee before taking admission.

Government College Fee

Government AYUSH colleges are among the more affordable options in Maharashtra. The Maharashtra AYUSH fee structure for Government/Government-aided colleges has historically provided substantially lower tuition for eligible reserved-category and scholarship-category students, while Open-category fees are higher.

Private BAMS College Fee

Private BAMS fees vary considerably by institution. Current 2026–27 fee information indicates that many private colleges fall in the ₹1.50 lakh–₹2.50 lakh annual range, while some colleges can charge around ₹3 lakh or more per year under the approved fee structure.

Hostel and Other Charges

Tuition fee does not necessarily include all expenses. Candidates should check the complete annual payable amount with the allotted college.

Seat Allotment

Maharashtra AYUSH seat allotment is carried out through the centralized online counselling system of the Maharashtra State CET Cell. The allotment is based on the candidate's NEET UG 2026 merit and the preferences submitted during counselling.

Candidates should therefore arrange their college and course choices carefully, placing the most preferred option at the highest preference.

What to Do After Seat Allotment?

The selected candidate list is published by the Maharashtra CET Cell and communicated to the concerned colleges.

Status Retention

A candidate satisfied with the seat allotted in Round 1 can retain the seat by submitting the prescribed Status Retention Form (Annexure J) within the specified time, subject to the applicable rules.

Maharashtra AYUSH Counselling 2026 Cutoff

The Maharashtra AYUSH cutoff is the closing NEET UG rank at which a BAMS, BHMS or BUMS seat is allotted in a particular college, category, quota and counselling round.

The cutoff can vary significantly depending on the college, course, category, quota, counselling round, NEET UG merit, seat availability and candidate preferences.

Therefore, there is no single Maharashtra AYUSH cutoff rank applicable to all colleges.

Expected Cutoff (2026)

Based on previous-year counselling trends, the following ranges can be used as an approximate indication for 2026. These are not official 2026 closing ranks.

Government vs Private College Cutoff

Government AYUSH colleges generally have more competitive closing ranks, particularly for popular BAMS colleges in Mumbai and other major cities.

Private BAMS, BHMS and BUMS colleges may remain available at comparatively higher NEET ranks, particularly in later counselling rounds.

Candidates should always check the college-wise, course-wise, category-wise and round-wise closing rank instead of relying only on an overall cutoff range.

NEET Qualifying Cutoff vs AYUSH Admission Cutoff

NEET qualifying cutoff and AYUSH admission cutoff are two different concepts. Qualifying NEET only makes a candidate eligible to participate in counselling; it does not guarantee admission to a particular college or course.

A candidate can therefore qualify NEET but still not get a particular BAMS, BHMS or BUMS college if their rank is beyond that college's closing rank.
