Government Medical Colleges in Andaman & Nicobar Islands

Andaman & Nicobar Islands is home to a single Government Medical College — Andaman & Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences (ANIIMS), Sri Vijaya Puram, established in 2015. The college offers 114 MBBS seats for AY 2026-27 and is affiliated to the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Institute of Higher Learning (NSCBIHL), Deemed-to-be-University, from this academic year. Currently, there are no private medical colleges in the Union Territory.

Seat Distribution

Of the 97 State Quota seats, allocation follows the Islands’ category-wise reservation scheme – Category-I (Tribals, 20%), Category-II (Deputationists/Central Govt. Employees, 10%), Category-III (Pre-1942 Settlers & other settlers, 50%), Category-IV (Other Locals, 20%), and Category-V (General Merit, unutilised seats of I-IV).

As per the official ANIIMS MBBS Prospectus 2026-27, the total amount payable at the time of admission is ₹79,100, comprising a one-time fee, refundable deposits, and the per-semester fee. Semester fees (₹37,550 per semester, excluding hostel mess charges) are collected in the 1st week of January and the 1st week of July each year. Fee is payable only via Demand Draft (in favour of “ANIIMS, Admission”, payable at Canara Bank, DHS Building, Sri Vijaya Puram) or UPI – cash or cheque is not accepted.

Andaman & Nicobar Islands NEET UG Counselling & Admission 2026-27

Admission to MBBS in Andaman & Nicobar Islands for AY 2026-27 is conducted through the official ANIIMS Prospectus, based on NEET UG 2026 rank. State Quota (97 seats) is managed by ANIIMS, Sri Vijaya Puram, through the common college admission portal, while All India Quota (17 seats) is allotted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), DGHS, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. Applications are submitted online through collegeadmission.andamannicobar.gov.in, and schedule/updates are published on aniims.andamannicobar.gov.in. Eligible students fill their preferred college choices online, and allotments are made based on NEET rank, reservation norms, and seat availability.

Eligibility Criteria for MBBS in Andaman & Nicobar Islands (2026-27, Official)

To apply for MBBS in Andaman & Nicobar Islands, candidates must qualify for NEET UG 2026 with the required cutoff percentile. Applicants should have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English, securing a minimum of 50% marks (General/EWS), 40% (SC/ST/OBC-NCL), or 40% (PwBD) in these subjects together, as per NMC regulations. For NEET-UG 2026 merit, the minimum percentile required is 50th for General/GEN-EWS, 40th for ST/OBC, 45th for PwBD (Unreserved/EWS category), and 40th for PwBD (ST/OBC-NCL category).

Age Criteria: The candidate should be born on or before 31.12.2009 (lower age limit, applicable to all categories including SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD). As per the NMC/UGMEB letter dated 13.01.2026, there is no upper age limit for admission.

For state quota seats, candidates need to establish eligibility under one of the ANI local categories (Tribals, Deputationists/Central Govt. Employees, Pre-1942/Other Settlers, Other Locals, or General Merit) as specified by the Andaman & Nicobar administration, supported by the relevant certificate.

MBBS Registration in Andaman & Nicobar Islands (2026-27)

The registration process for MBBS admission in Andaman & Nicobar Islands for AY 2026-27 is conducted online through the common college admission portal collegeadmission.andamannicobar.gov.in. Candidates without internet access may also apply through a nearby Common Service Centre (CSC). Applicants must fill in their details completely, upload the required documents (Class 10th & 12+2 certificates/marksheets, NEET UG 2026 admit card & scorecard, identity proof, photograph, and applicable category certificates), and submit the online application within the notified window (8–16 August 2026). After seat allotment, students must complete admission formalities and full fee payment within the specified timeframe to confirm their seat.

Counselling Process

1. Online Registration

• Visit: collegeadmission.andamannicobar.gov.in (Common College Admission Portal)
• Fill in details: Name, Gender, DOB, Category, Disability Status, Qualification, Email, Mobile, and Address.
• Submit the form.

2. Upload Documents

• Recent color photograph (20kb-50kb)
• Signature on white paper (10kb-20kb)
• NEET UG 2026 Admit Card, Score Card/Rank Letter, Class 10th & 10+2 certificates/marksheets, DOB proof, Transfer/Leaving Certificate, Identity proof, and applicable category certificates as a single PDF (max 500kb, as specified in the portal).

3. Preview & Submission

• Review uploaded documents.
• Submit the application within the notified window (8–16 August 2026).
• Receive application number and password.

4. Application Fee Payment

• General/OBC: ₹2,000 + transaction charges
• SC/ST/EWS: ₹1,600 + transaction charges
• Payment via Net Banking, Debit/Credit Card.
• Note: This registration/application fee is separate from the ₹79,100 admission fee payable at the time of counselling/joining (see fee structure table above).

Counselling Steps

1.    Registration

• Complete online registration on the official portal between 8 and 16 August 2026.

2.    Merit List & Grievance

• Provisional merit list: 17 August 2026 (11:00 AM)
• Appeal & Grievance window: 17 August (12 Noon) – 19 August 2026 (3:00 PM)
• Final merit list: 19 August 2026 (5:00 PM)

3.    Document Verification & Counselling

• Attend the Round 1 counselling & document verification session at ANIIMS, Sri Vijaya Puram, on 21 & 22 August 2026.
• Required Documents:
• NEET UG 2026 Admit Card & Score Card/Rank Letter
• Class 10th & 12th Mark Sheets and Certificates
• Transfer/Leaving Certificate & Migration Certificate
• Nationality Certificate / valid Indian Passport
• Identity Proof (Aadhar, Passport, etc.)

• Person with Benchmark Disabilities Certificate (if applicable)
• Anti-Ragging Undertaking, Surety Bond, and Service Undertaking
• Three latest (not more than 3 months old) passport-size photographs

4.    Seat Allotment & Medical Examination

• Seats allotted based on NEET rank, category, and preferences.
• Selected candidates undergo a medical fitness examination by the Institute’s medical board at Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital before provisional admission is confirmed.

5.    Reporting to Allotted College

• Report to ANIIMS with original documents and complete admission formalities and full fee payment (₹79,100) by Demand Draft or UPI – cash/cheque not accepted.
• Last date of joining: 28 August 2026 (Round 1), 14 September 2026 (Round 2), 1 October 2026 (Round 3), 10 October 2026 (Stray Vacancy, if conducted).

6.    Upgradation (Optional)

• Participate in Round 2, Round 3, or Stray Vacancy round for better seat allocation, as per schedule above.
