How Category Cutoffs Work

Each subject at each college has a separate cutoff (closing rank) for every category in which a seat was allotted. A subject may show a cutoff under UR, EWS, BC-I, BC-II, SC and ST - wherever a seat existed in that category for that round.

A dash (-) in the table means no seat was allotted in that category in that particular round - it does not necessarily mean no seat exists; it may have been filled in an earlier or later round.

RIMS Ranchi - Most Competitive: Clinical subjects like Radiology, Dermatology, General Medicine and Obst. & Gynae. close in Round 1 at very tight UR ranks (~1,300–8,000), reflecting its status as Jharkhand's leading government medical college.

MGMMC Jamshedpur - Close Second: UR closing ranks generally in the 8,000–16,000 band for General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology and Anaesthesiology.

SNMMC Dhanbad - Less Competitive: Even General Medicine closes only around rank 29,000–38,000, and several seats remain vacant until Round 3.

Sadar Hospital Ranchi - DNB Seats: DNB seats in Obst. & Gynae. and General Surgery close very late (Round 2, ranks above 1,00,000), indicating lower demand compared to MD/MS at the three medical colleges.

Non-clinical Subjects: Pathology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine, Physiology, Anatomy, Community Medicine close far later - frequently only in Round 3 and often beyond rank 1,50,000, mirroring the national trend.

Counselling Key Details

Step 1 - Registration

Register on the Jharkhand state PG medical counselling portal using NEET PG roll number and required documents.

Step 2 - Category & Domicile Verification

Upload domicile and category certificates (EWS/BC-I/BC-II/SC/ST, as applicable) for verification before choice filling.

Step 3 - Choice Filling & Locking

Fill and lock preferred institution and subject combinations in order of preference.

Step 4 - Seat Allotment

Seats allotted purely on the state PG merit list, category-wise, across Round 1, Round 2 and Round 3.

Step 5 - Reporting & Fee Payment

Report to the allotted institution with original documents, complete verification, and pay the nominal government college fee within the deadline to confirm the seat.

Step 6 - Upgradation/Withdrawal

Candidates may upgrade to a better institution/subject in the next round as per that round's rules.

No AIQ/SQ Split: All seats listed here are State Quota seats. A separate All India Quota list (if any) for these same colleges would be published and counselled by MCC separately.

Diploma & DNB Seats Included: MGMMC Jamshedpur also offers Diploma courses (D.C.H., D.G.O., D.M.R.D.), and Sadar Hospital Ranchi offers only Post-MBBS DNB seats — these follow the same category-wise merit process as MD/MS seats.

Government Fee Structure: Fees at these institutions are the standard, government-regulated nominal PG fee, not the multi-lakh fees seen at deemed/private universities — exact fee amounts should be confirmed from the official college/state fee notification.

Category-wise Vacancy Pattern: Several subjects show cutoffs only for certain categories in certain rounds. Candidates should check every round for their specific category — a subject may have a UR seat filled in Round 1 but its BC-II or ST seat only filling in Round 3.

Eligibility Criteria

Qualifying Exam:
• Must have qualified NEET PG

MBBS Degree:
• Must hold a recognized MBBS degree from an NMC-recognized college

Internship:
• Must have completed the compulsory rotating internship

• Must be registered with a State Medical Council or the National Medical Commission

Domicile:
• Jharkhand domicile/state eligibility is generally required for these State Quota seats
