About the College

Meenakshi Ammal Dental College and Hospital (MADCH), Chennai, traces back to 1990-91, when it was initially affiliated with Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University under the Meenakshi Ammal Trust (founded by Mrs. D. Meenakshi Ammal in 1983). In 2004, it was declared a constituent college of Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research (MAHER), Deemed to be University, by the Ministry of Human Resources Development.

The college is located on Alapakkam Main Road, Janaki Nagar, Maduravoyal - one of the few dental colleges situated within Chennai city limits - spread across 5.12 acres with a built-up area of over 4,12,000 sq. ft. It's recognised by the Dental Council of India, accredited NAAC A, and has placed in the low-to-mid 20s in NIRF's dental rankings in recent years.

Since MADCH is a deemed university college, BDS admission goes through the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), not Tamil Nadu state counselling. Seats are offered under All India Quota / Deemed University quota, along with Management, Jain Minority, Muslim Minority, and NRI quota.

Why Choose Meenakshi Ammal Dental College, Chennai?

City Location

Being situated within Chennai city limits (rather than an outskirts campus) is a genuine convenience for students who want easy access to the broader city ecosystem during their course.

Course Spread

MDS is offered across all nine dental specialties, along with a Diploma in Dental Mechanics, giving a full academic ladder from UG to specialised PG training.

Facilities

Well-equipped labs, clinics, and simulation labs, plus 24x7 Wi-Fi, an e-library with access to national and international journals, and hostel and recreational facilities on a roughly 5-acre campus.

Multiple Quota Routes

With Management, Jain Minority, Muslim Minority, and NRI quota alongside UR, MADCH offers more entry pathways than colleges with just UR/NRI categories.

Trust Legacy

Being part of the Meenakshi Ammal Trust (which also runs medical, engineering, and paramedical institutions) gives the college access to a broader institutional support system.

After BDS

Graduates typically move into private practice, hospital roles, further studies (MDS), teaching, research, or public health work.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Passed Class 12 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as compulsory subjects, with at least 50% aggregate marks
  • Must have qualified NEET-UG, conducted by NTA
  • Should be at least 17 years old by December 31 of the admission year
  • Jain Minority, Muslim Minority, Management, and NRI category applicants need to meet the specific eligibility and documentation requirements set for each category
  • OCI/PIO/foreign nationals are eligible only for NRI category seats, per Supreme Court directions in the CODEUNIK case

Note: The minimum age rule has seen legal changes in recent years, so it's worth checking the latest NDC/DCI notification.

Admission Process

Since MADCH is a deemed university college, admission runs through MCC, not state counselling.

Step 1: Clear NEET-UG

A qualifying NEET-UG score is the entry requirement.

Step 2: Register on MCC

Register on the MCC counselling portal for deemed universities (mcc.nic.in), under the Deemed University Quota.

Step 3: Fill Application & Upload Documents

Step 4: Pay the Counselling Fee

Pay the applicable counselling registration fee.

Step 5: Choose & Lock Preferences

Carefully order and lock your college preferences.

Step 6: Seat Allotment

Wait for the seat allotment round.

Step 7: Download Allotment Letter

Step 8: Report to MADCH

Step 9: Document Verification

Step 10: Pay Admission Fee

Important: MCC counselling for deemed universities runs across Round 1, Round 2, a Mop-Up (Round 3), and a Stray Vacancy Round. Once you accept a seat in Round 3, withdrawal isn't permitted, and you become ineligible for further counselling rounds โ€” choose carefully at that stage. For Jain Minority, Muslim Minority, or NRI seats, any vacancies remaining after Round 3 convert to UR Management Private Deemed University seats.

Course Duration & Fee Structure

Course Duration
