Bihar NEET PG Counselling 2026 – Overview

The Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB), Patna conducts the state-level NEET PG counselling for admission to MD, MS and PG Diploma seats in Government and Private Medical Colleges of Bihar. Only candidates who have qualified NEET PG 2026 (NBEMS) can participate. The process is fully online through the official portal bceceboard.bihar.gov.in.

BCECEB releases the round-wise schedule through a public notice after the NEET PG 2026 result and the MCC schedule. Candidates should keep checking the official portal.

Bihar NEET PG Counselling 2026 Eligibility Criteria

• Candidate must have qualified NEET PG 2026. Qualifying marks (out of 720): General/EWS – 262, General-PwBD – 244, SC/ST/OBC – 226.
• MBBS degree from an NMC-recognised medical college, with completion of compulsory rotatory internship by the date prescribed in the BCECEB notice.
• Valid permanent/provisional registration with NMC or a State Medical Council.
• Domicile / state-eligibility and reservation benefits are applicable as per the Bihar Government rules given in the BCECEB prospectus.
• Candidates already admitted to a PG course through another counselling should check the resignation and re-entry rules before applying.

1. Visit the official website bceceboard.bihar.gov.in and open the PG medical counselling link.
2. Register with NEET PG 2026 roll number, and basic details such as mobile number and email ID.
3. Fill in personal, category, domicile and qualification details.
4. Upload the required documents and photograph as instructed.
5. Pay the non-refundable registration fee and the refundable security deposit online.
6. Submit the form and download the registration slip / fee receipt for future use.

The state quota seat matrix is published by BCECEB before choice filling and may be revised in later rounds. In the 2025 cycle, the matrix showed around 369 seats in government medical colleges (352 general + 17 disability quota) and 463 seats in private medical colleges. Candidates should rely on the official 2026 seat matrix.

Seats are available in clinical, para-clinical and non-clinical MD/MS branches such as General Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Radiodiagnosis, Anaesthesiology, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Dermatology, Pathology, Microbiology, Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology and Community Medicine. Branch-wise seats per college are given in the official seat matrix.

Category-wise

2025 counselling data shows the following categories: Government colleges – UR, EWS, BC, EBC, SC, ST, RCG and DQ; Private colleges – UR, NRI, MM (Muslim Minority) and SM. Female and open seats are separately shown in government college data.

How to fill choices

1. Log in to the BCECEB counselling portal after paying the fees.
2. Select college and course combinations from the seat list.
3. Arrange choices in your order of preference.
4. Save the list and preview it.

Choice preference strategy

• Fill more choices than you expect to need, from most preferred to safest.
• Compare your rank with 2025 closing ranks of the same category, branch and round.
• Check fees, bond and stipend of each college before adding it.
• Do not add a college you are not willing to join.

Choice locking

Choices must be locked before the deadline. Unlocked choices may not be considered, and locked choices cannot be edited unless the portal opens an edit window.

Bihar NEET PG Seat Allotment

Seats are allotted on the basis of NEET PG rank, category, domicile, choices locked and seat availability. After the result, candidates should download the allotment letter from the portal and report within the given date. Seats not joined in time are forfeited.

Bihar NEET PG Vacant Seats

Seats left vacant after a round are added to the next round. BCECEB publishes the vacant seat list before choice filling of each round. Seats may also become vacant through resignation or non-reporting. Candidates should always check the latest vacant seat notice before locking choices.

Service bond

Candidates who take state quota seats in government medical colleges must serve the Bihar Government for 3 years. As per the 2025 policy, the bond amount for not serving is ₹25 lakh plus stipend received, and leaving the course after admission requires paying ₹15 lakh plus stipend. Confirm current terms in the 2026 notice.
