Rural Dental College, Loni BDS Admission
Complete Guide - Eligibility, Cutoff, Fees & Admission Process
Deemed University ย | ย Counselling Authority: MCC (Medical Counselling Committee)
Rural Dental College (RDC), Loni, was founded in 1989-90 by the Pravara Medical Trust, with the goal of addressing the shortage of dental professionals in rural Maharashtra. It's a constituent college of Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Deemed to be University, and sits on a large 120-acre unitary campus in Loni Budruk, Ahmednagar district, that houses both the college and its teaching hospital.
The college is recognised by the Dental Council of India, and PIMS carries NAAC A accreditation. All the specialised preclinical and clinical departments required by DCI are in place here, and the college also runs extension OPD services to nearby villages, giving students exposure to rural and community dentistry alongside regular clinical training.
Quota Note: Since RDC is a deemed university college, BDS admission goes through the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), not Maharashtra state counselling. Seats are offered under All India Quota / Deemed University quota, along with Management and NRI quota.

RDC's extension OPD programme means students get direct clinical exposure to rural populations, which is a genuine differentiator from most urban dental colleges.
A 120-acre unitary campus with a 1,40,536 sq. mtr. built-up area, four lecture halls, department-specific seminar rooms, and a 450-seat central-AC mini auditorium gives the college fairly generous physical infrastructure.
All the DCI-mandated clinical and preclinical departments - from Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery to Prosthodontics and Periodontology - are adequately staffed and equipped, supporting both UG and PG training.
Compared to several other deemed university dental colleges, RDC's tuition fee is on the more moderate end, which is worth factoring in if budget is a priority.
Graduates typically move into private practice, hospital roles, further studies (MDS), teaching, research, or public health and rural dentistry work.
Note: The minimum age rule has seen legal changes in recent years, so it's worth checking the latest NDC/DCI notification.
Since RDC is a deemed university college, admission runs through MCC, not state counselling.

BDS at RDC runs for five years:
Based on the latest available data, the annual tuition fee is around โน3,50,000 for the UR category and $20,590 for NRI candidates. Some sources cite an all-inclusive total course cost (tuition plus hostel and one-time charges) of around โน14,00,000 over the full programme - so it's worth asking the college for a full year-wise breakup rather than relying on the annual figure alone.
Beyond tuition, plan for:
Fee structures do get revised year to year - confirm the exact figure directly with the college before counselling.
Your NEET Score & Rank
The higher, the better your odds.
How You Fill Your Choices
Where you place RDC in your preference list matters.
Seat Availability
Depends on the round and category (UR/NRI).
Which Round You're In
The UR rank here swings noticeably - it tightened to about 1.67 lakh in Round 4, then loosened back out past 7.5 lakh in Round 5, so track each round rather than assuming a steady trend.
Keep both originals and self-attested photocopies ready.
Once you graduate, options include private practice, government or corporate dental hospitals, cosmetic/aesthetic dentistry, implant clinics, orthodontic or pediatric centres, public health and rural dentistry, research roles, teaching, healthcare admin, or going further with an MDS - in India or abroad, once licensing requirements are met.
