Tairunnessa Memorial Medical College & Hospital is an institution of Tairunnessa Memorial Medical Centre Limited. Since its inception, Tairunnessa Memorial Medical Centre has been playing an important role in developing human resources for health in Bangladesh. It’s Founder Chairman M. Shamsul Hoque, started his journey with a small outpatient department, at Konia, Gazipur which over the years has turned into an impressive prestigious hospital and research complex – TMMC Hospital, with 600 bedded multidisciplinary hospital complex – has been recognized nationally and internationally as a centre of excellence for heart diseases and research. To maintain the reputation of TMMC Medical Centre in the field of higher education and research and to remain in the forefront of health care services, technology and education – increasing the need for highly motivated professionally competent manpower for the health sector can hardly be emphasized. It is in this context, the founder chairman decided to establish Tairunnessa Memorial Medical College and develop it as a centre of excellence, so as to demonstrate a high standard of graduate education in Medicine, so badly needed in the country. The chairman also resolved to name the college after his mother, late Tairunnessa, a great social reformer. 

The hospital is housed in two large buildings – one is 6 storied and other is 6 storied. The 12-storied building accommodates the medical college, while the 6 storied building is for outpatient services, intensive care unit and modem super-specialized cardiac centre. The indoor and outdoor facilities go a long way in meeting the ever-increasing demand of the patients. Patients, coming from the remote corners of Bangladesh, are attended at the outpatient departments daily. Besides patients with heart ailments at outpatient services are in-built with the in-patient services of other departments like medicine, paediatrics, special baby care unit, skin diseases, surgery, orthopaedics, obstetrics and gynaecology
