Today, the college functions under the affiliation of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bengaluru, and is recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

About the Hospital

The teaching hospitals affiliated with VIMS play a critical role in offering clinical exposure to students while serving the healthcare needs of the Ballari region. The main Medical College Hospital was commissioned in 1966 and has over 680 beds offering services in General Medicine, Surgery, Orthopedics, ENT, and more. The District Hospital, with around 210 beds, serves as the key center for Pediatrics, Obstetrics, and Postnatal care. Another major facility under VIMS is the Government Wellesley TB & Chest Diseases Hospital, which dates back to 1929 and has 280 beds. These hospitals witness high patient inflow, ensuring students gain extensive hands-on experience.
