▸ About CUET (PG) - 2026

The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) was introduced in 2022 for admission into postgraduate programmes in Central and participating universities.

  • The examination provides a common platform and equal opportunity to candidates across the country, especially those from the North-East and rural or remote areas, helping to establish a stronger connection with universities.
  • A single examination allows candidates to apply to multiple universities, expanding their reach in the admission process.

The CUET (PG) 2026 scores will be used for admissions to postgraduate programmes in participating universities for the academic session 2026–27.

▸ Answer Key Challenge Process

Well before the declaration of results, NTA released the provisional answer key, question papers, and recorded responses for candidates. Candidates were allowed to challenge the answer key within a defined window:

Challenge Period
April 11 to April 14, 2026
Last Date for Payment
April 14, 2026 (up to 10:00 AM)
Processing Fee
₹200 per question (non-refundable)
✓  All challenges were reviewed by subject experts, and the final answer key was used to prepare the result.
▸ Subjects & Question Paper Coverage

CUET (PG) 2026 covered a wide range of disciplines, categorized under multiple domains:

Common Courses
Management, Economics, Law, Public Health, Education, etc.
Languages
English, Hindi, Sanskrit, French, Urdu, Tamil, and others
Science
Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, Biotechnology, etc.
Humanities
History, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, etc.
M.Tech / Higher Sciences
Engineering, AI, Data Science, and related fields
Acharya Programmes
Vedic studies, Sanskrit disciplines, philosophy, etc.
▪  Candidates were required to carefully select the correct question paper code, as similar courses may vary across universities.

▸ How NTA Score is Calculated (Normalization Process)

Since CUET PG 2026 is conducted in multiple shifts/sessions, the NTA uses a normalization procedure based on percentile and equi-percentile methods to ensure fairness across varying difficulty levels.

Step 1: Raw Marks to Percentile Scores
  • Percentiles are calculated separately for each session (shift-wise)
  • They are based on the relative performance of candidates within that session only

Percentile Formula:

Percentile = (Number of candidates with raw score ≤ T ÷ Total number of candidates in the session) × 100
Note: T = the raw (actual) marks obtained by a specific candidate
Example: If total candidates are 1000 and 900 have scored less than or equal to T, then the percentile of a candidate whose score is T will be 90.

Key Points:

  • The highest scorer in each session gets 100 percentile
  • Percentile indicates the percentage of candidates scoring equal to or below a candidate
  • Percentile scores are calculated up to 7 decimal places
  • Percentile ≠ Percentage of marks

▪  This step ensures fairness within each individual shift.

Step 2: Conversion Across Shifts Using Equi-Percentile Method
  • Percentiles from different shifts are aligned across sessions
  • A combined table is created by sorting candidates in decreasing order of percentiles

Key Concept:

If candidates from different shifts have the same percentile, their scores are treated as equivalent.

Handling Missing Corresponding Scores:

In many cases, exact percentile matches across shifts may not exist. Such gaps are filled using linear interpolation.

Interpolation Formula:

X = x₁ + [ (x₂ − x₁) ÷ (p₂ − p₁) ] × (P − p₁)
Where: P = target percentile  â€˘  x₁, x₂ = nearest lower and higher raw scores  â€˘  p₁, p₂ = corresponding percentiles

▪  This ensures that scores from different shifts are mapped onto a common comparable scale.

Step 3: Calculation of Normalized Score (NTA Score)
  • After aligning scores across sessions, a normalized score is assigned to each percentile
  • This score is derived from the raw scores corresponding to the same percentile across all sessions

Normalized Score Formula:

Z = Average of (uₐ, uₑ, …, uₜ)
Where: uₐ, uₑ, …, uₜ = raw scores corresponding to the same percentile in different sessions  â€˘  Z = final normalized NTA Score

This produces a common standardized score across all shifts. Used for:

  • Result preparation
  • Merit list generation
  • Admission processing
Final Understanding
  • Raw marks are not used directly for ranking
  • The NTA Score is used instead
  • The process ensures: Fair comparison across shifts  â€˘  Elimination of difficulty-level bias  â€˘  Accurate merit determination
▸ CUET (PG) 2026 Score & Result Policy
Score Validity
The NTA Score is valid only for the academic session 2026–27
Score Sharing
Scores are shared with participating universities
Result Basis
Results are based on final answer keys only
Scorecard
Candidates must download scorecards online (no physical copy sent)
Re-evaluation Policy
No re-evaluation or re-checking of results is allowed  â€˘  No grievances will be entertained after result declaration
▸ Admission Process After Result

⚠  Appearing in CUET PG 2026 does not confer any right to admission in a university. Admission to postgraduate programmes is subject to multiple conditions and institutional requirements.

Basis of Admission
  • Fulfilling the prescribed eligibility criteria of the respective university
  • Rank in the merit list prepared using CUET (PG) 2026 scores
  • Medical fitness (where applicable)
  • Verification of original documents
  • Any additional criteria specified by the university where the candidate has applied
Role of Participating Universities

Admissions are handled entirely at the level of Central and participating universities. After the declaration of results:

  • Universities will prepare and release their own merit lists
  • They will announce counselling and admission schedules
  • Admissions will be conducted based on CUET (PG) 2026 scores and additional university-specific criteria

▪  Candidates are advised to refer to the official websites of the respective universities for all admission-related updates.

Important Clarification

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has no role in the admission process. NTA does not participate in:

  • Counselling
  • Seat allocation
  • Transfer, cancellation, or conversion of seats
  • Refund of fees

▪  All such processes are managed solely by the respective universities or counselling authorities.

▸ Conclusion

With the completion of the answer key challenge process and normalization, the CUET PG 2026 results will be declared on April 24, 2026. Candidates should prepare for the next stage, which includes university-level counselling and admission processes based on NTA scores.
