The Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Raichur, established in 2019 under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, is an autonomous Institute of National Importance. It operates with support from the Ministry of Education, Government of India, the Government of Karnataka, and industry partners. Initially, the institute commenced its academic session at the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad), with Prof. Budaraju Srinivasa Murty as the mentor director. In December 2022, Prof. Harish Kumar Sardana took over as the founding director.

Since September 2021, IIIT Raichur has been functioning from the Government Engineering College (GEC) Yermarus campus in Raichur, Karnataka. The state government has allocated 74 acres of land for the construction of a permanent campus, with the foundation stone laid in February 2024 by the Hon’ble Prime Minister through a video conference.

IIIT Raichur offers B.Tech programs in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Artificial Intelligence & Data Science (AI & DS), with an intake of 80 and 60 students, respectively. Admissions are conducted through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-Main) and seat allocation via JoSAA and CSAB.
