The Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Ranchi was established in 2016 as an Institute of National Importance under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. It was founded through a collaborative initiative between the Government of India, the Government of Jharkhand, and industry partners Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Tata Technologies Ltd, and Central Coalfields Ltd. The institute operates with funding contributions of 50% from the Government of India, 35% from the Government of Jharkhand, and 15% from the industry partners.
