The Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Una, established in 2014, is an autonomous Institute of National Importance under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. It operates with support from the Ministry of Education, Government of India, the Government of Himachal Pradesh, and industry partners including HP Power Corporation and HP Power Transmission Corporation. Initially functioning from the campus of NIT Hamirpur, IIIT Una began its operations in the academic year 2014–15, offering undergraduate programs in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE). In the academic year 2017–18, the Information Technology (IT) branch was also introduced.
The institute was conferred the status of an Institute of National Importance in 2017. The institute's mission is to address national and global challenges through the talent it nurtures and the research it conducts. Its vision is to become a premier institution in Information Technology and allied fields, emerging as an elite research institution by imparting futuristic quality education of global standards.
