About NIT Mizoram

The National Institute of Technology Mizoram (NIT Mizoram) is one of the 32 NITs in India, established in 2010 under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Located in Aizawl, it holds the status of an "Institute of National Importance" and offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in various engineering disciplines. Admissions are conducted through JEE Main followed by JoSAA counselling.

Initially, classes were conducted at VNIT Nagpur before shifting to Aizawl in 2011. The foundation stone for the permanent campus at Lengpui was laid in 2012. The institute currently operates from a temporary campus, with its permanent infrastructure under development on a 190-acre site.

NIT Mizoram Admission Process For 2025

1. Eligibility Criteria

• Educational Background: Completed Class 12 (Science stream) with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics (PCM) from a recognized board.
• Minimum Marks Requirement:
  • General/OBC/EWS: ≥ 75% aggregate in PCM in Class 12th.
  • (Note: Some sources mention ≥ 60%, but JoSAA/NIT norms require ≥ 75% or top 20 percentile.)
• Entrance Exam: Valid score in JEE Main 2025 (best of two attempts).

Steps to take Admission 

1. Qualify JEE Main
   • Register for sessions 1 & 2. The second session is scheduled for April 1–8, 2025, with results around April 17, 2025.
2. Register for JoSAA Counselling
   • Open registration in early June on the JoSAA portal.
   • Pay the initial (non-refundable) Partial Admission Fee (PAF):
     • ₹40,000 for GEN/OBC/EWS, ₹20,000 for SC/ST/PwD.
3. Choice Filling & Mock Allotment
   • Fill institute and program preferences online within the specified window (10 days, including 2 mock rounds).
   • Lock your choices before the deadline (usually ~June 12–13). Any saved choices auto-lock after that.
4. Seat Allotment Rounds
   • Multiple rounds will be conducted. Once a seat is allocated to NIT Mizoram, accept and choose from:
     • Freeze – finalize the seat,
     • Float – try for a better choice in later rounds,
     • Slide – try for a higher choice in the same institute.
   • Pay the seat acceptance fee online via JoSAA.
5. Online Document Upload & Verification
   • Upload all required documents on the JoSAA portal.
   • Monitor your dashboard regularly and address any issues promptly to avoid seat cancellation.
6. Physical Reporting at NIT Mizoram
