📚 WBJEE 2025 Centralized e-Counselling Details

🌐 Overview

The centralized online counselling for admission to undergraduate programs in Engineering, Technology, Architecture and Pharmacy is conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) based on ranks obtained in the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE-2025) and Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE-Main-2025).

According to the official notification issued on 26 August 2025, WBJEEB conducts a centralized e-counselling process for allotment of seats in participating universities and colleges across West Bengal.

The counselling system is completely online and includes:

  • → registration
  • → choice filling
  • → seat allotment
  • → payment of seat acceptance fee
  • → reporting to the allotted institute for admission

This centralized system ensures fair, transparent and merit-based admission to engineering and pharmacy programs.

✨ Combined Counselling

There is one combined counselling process for candidates who have secured valid ranks in:

  • → WBJEE-2025 (GMR/PMR)
  • → JEE-Main-2025

Both rank holders compete for seats available in the approved seat matrix published by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Government of West Bengal.

💻 Entire Process Conducted Online

All major steps of counselling are carried out through a centralized online portal. These include:

  • → candidate registration
  • → choice filling
  • → choice locking
  • → seat allotment
  • → payment of seat acceptance fee

Candidates must regularly check the WBJEEB counselling portal for updates.

🎯 Seat Allocation Based on Approved Seat Matrix

Seat allotment is conducted strictly according to the official seat matrix approved by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Government of West Bengal. The seat matrix includes:

  • → participating institutions
  • → available branches
  • → category-wise seats
  • → TFW (Tuition Fee Waiver) seats
  • → JEE-Main quota seats

📝 WBJEE Counselling Rounds

1️⃣ Round 1 — Initial Seat Allotment

In Round-1:

  • → candidates register for counselling
  • → fill and lock choices
  • → seats are allotted based on rank and preference

Candidates who receive a seat must pay a seat acceptance fee of ₹5000 and download the allotment letter.

After this, they must report to the allotted institute for document verification and admission formalities. Failure to complete these steps results in cancellation of the allotted seat.

2️⃣ Round 2 — Upgradation / Final Round

Round-2 is the final round of counselling. Candidates eligible for Round-2 include:

  • → those who did not receive a seat in Round-1
  • → those who opted for YES-upgradation after Round-1
  • → candidates whose Round-1 allotment was cancelled due to certain reasons

Important points:

🏆 WBJEE 2026 Ranking Methodology and Merit Lists

📌 General Overview

The merit ranks for the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE-2026) are prepared by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) based on the marks obtained by candidates in the entrance examination.

After evaluation of the examination papers, WBJEEB prepares merit ranks according to candidates’ scores. Each candidate can view and download their Rank Card, which contains:

  • → Marks obtained in the examination
  • → Merit rank
  • → Category rank (if applicable)

To maintain confidentiality, WBJEEB does not publish any public rank list or score list. Based on subjects attempted and marks obtained, two separate merit ranks are generated.

🎯 General Merit Rank (GMR)

The General Merit Rank (GMR) is the primary merit list used for admission to most engineering and architecture programs.

Admission Based on GMR:

  • → Engineering courses
  • → Technology courses
  • → Architecture courses
  • → Pharmacy course at Jadavpur University

The sequence of seat allotment during counselling is determined only by GMR. Category ranks are not used for determining counselling order.

💊 Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR)

The Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR) is used specifically for admission to pharmacy programs in participating institutions.

Admission Based on PMR:

  • → B.Pharm courses
  • → Pharm.D courses
  • → All pharmacy colleges participating in WBJEE counselling

However, the pharmacy course at Jadavpur University uses the General Merit Rank (GMR) instead of PMR. During counselling, seat allotment sequence is determined only by PMR, not by category rank.

  • → Tuition fees
  • → Seat availability in preferred branches
  • → Previous year cutoffs
  • → Location and campus facilities
  • → Placement opportunities

Government universities and government engineering colleges generally have higher demand due to lower fees and strong reputation, while private institutions offer larger seat availability and more specialized programs.
