The merit ranks for the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE-2026) are prepared by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) based on the marks obtained by candidates in the entrance examination.
After evaluation of the examination papers, WBJEEB prepares merit ranks according to candidates’ scores. Each candidate can view and download their Rank Card, which contains:
To maintain confidentiality, WBJEEB does not publish any public rank list or score list. Based on subjects attempted and marks obtained, two separate merit ranks are generated.
The General Merit Rank (GMR) is the primary merit list used for admission to most engineering and architecture programs.
Admission Based on GMR:
The sequence of seat allotment during counselling is determined only by GMR. Category ranks are not used for determining counselling order.
The Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR) is used specifically for admission to pharmacy programs in participating institutions.
Admission Based on PMR:
However, the pharmacy course at Jadavpur University uses the General Merit Rank (GMR) instead of PMR. During counselling, seat allotment sequence is determined only by PMR, not by category rank.
Candidates appearing for the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE-2026) must meet the eligibility and academic requirements prescribed by the WBJEEB and relevant regulatory authorities such as AICTE, PCI, and COA.
