Undergraduate Entrance Examination (UGEE) – 2026 for IIIT Hyderabad Dual Degree Admissions

The Undergraduate Entrance Examination (UGEE) – 2026 is conducted by the International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIIT Hyderabad) for admission into its prestigious 5-year Dual Degree Programmes, leading to:

  • Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech)
  • Master of Science by Research

This mode is specifically designed for students inclined towards research-oriented careers and higher studies.

About UGEE Mode

The Undergraduate Entrance Examination (UGEE) mode is designed for admission to dual degree programmes at IIIT Hyderabad.

Students admitted through UGEE earn:

  • Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech)
  • Master of Science by Research

The Master’s degree requires completion of a research thesis.

This programme prepares students for:

  • M.S. by Research in Computational Natural Sciences

5. CHD

  • B.Tech in Computer Science
  • M.S. by Research in Computing and Human Sciences

All programmes are research-focused dual degrees.

Eligibility Criteria for UGEE 2026

To apply under UGEE 2026, candidates must satisfy the following:

Academic Requirement

  • Must have passed Class 12 or equivalent
  • Must have studied:
    • Mathematics
    • Physics
    • Chemistry

Year of Passing Condition

Eligible:

  • Candidates who passed Class 12 between 2023 and June 2026

Not Eligible:

  • Candidates who passed in 2022 or earlier

Only candidates meeting the above criteria are eligible to apply.

UGEE 2026 Examination Structure

Applicants must appear for a computer-based entrance examination conducted by IIIT Hyderabad.

Examination Mode

  • Computer-Based Test

Duration

  • Total Duration: 3 Hours
  • Exam Time: 09:00 AM to 12:00 Noon
  • Date: 2nd May 2026

Sections

The examination has two sections:

1. SUPR – Subject Proficiency Test

  • Duration: 60 Minutes

2. REAP – Research Aptitude Test

  • Duration: 120 Minutes

Negative Marking

  • 25% negative marking in both SUPR and REAP

Examination Centres

  • The exam will be conducted in multiple centres across many cities in India. This ensures nationwide accessibility for candidates.

Shortlisting Process

The shortlisting is conducted in two stages:

1. Performance in SUPR

  • Applicants are first filtered based on SUPR performance.

2. Ranking based on REAP

  • Candidates are ranked using REAP scores.

Only shortlisted candidates are called for interviews.

Interview Process

Candidates shortlisted from the written examination will be invited for an on-campus interview.

Final Admission Decision

  • Final offers are based solely on:
    • Interview performance
    • Decision of the interview committee

The decision of the interview committee is final.

Diversity Initiative

IIIT Hyderabad emphasizes diversity in its student body.

For UGEE 2026:

  • The Institute will target at least 25% women among candidates shortlisted for interviews through UGEE.
  • Application fee for women applicants has been reduced.

Application Fee Structure

  • Male applicants: ₹3,100
  • Female applicants: ₹1,550

The application fee is non-refundable.

The Institute is committed to ensuring that every admitted student who requires financial support receives appropriate assistance.

The following avenues are available:

1. SBI Scholar Loan (Guaranteed Access)

The State Bank of India (IIIT Branch) guarantees an SBI Scholar Student Loan to any student who secures admission at IIIT Hyderabad.

Key Features:

  • Loan amount: Up to ₹40 lakhs
  • No security required
  • Can be availed even if the applicant’s family has other existing loans
  • Applicable to all admitted students

This ensures that admitted students can finance their education without collateral barriers.

2. Alumni-Supported Financial Assistance Fund

The alumni of IIIT Hyderabad have established a financial assistance fund to support admitted students based on need.

This assistance is provided on a Pay-it-Forward basis.

  • Financial support is available to students whose family income is below ₹8 lakhs per annum
  • Assistance begins from the second semester
  • Support is subject to:
    • Availability of funds
    • Meeting stipulated eligibility criteria

Students Above Income Threshold

Students whose family income exceeds ₹8 lakhs per annum may also apply.

If a designated committee determines that the case merits support, tuition assistance may still be awarded.

Pay-it-Forward Model Explained

Under the Pay-it-Forward scheme:

  • The student agrees to support another student in the future
  • After graduation and successful employment, the beneficiary contributes towards the tuition fees of another student
