NEET UG Counselling Process for Tamil Naduย Eligibiityย 

In order to get admission to MBBS in Tamil Nadu, one has to be eligible to take NEET UG 2025 and satisfy the eligibility criteria established by DME. The student is required to have 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English with the minimum required marks as well as to meet stage quota requirements in reference to age and domicile.

  • Candidates must have passed the 12th standard (or equivalent) examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as subjects from a recognized board.
  • General category students need at least 50% marks in the 12th standard, while SC/ST/OBC candidates require 40% marks.
  • Candidates must have appeared for NEET UG and obtained the minimum qualifying score.
  • Age Limit:
  • The candidate must be at least 17 years old as of December 31st of the admission year.
  • There is no upper age limit to apply for NEET UG.

Domicile Criteria

  • Tamil Nadu Domicile:
  • The candidate must be a resident of Tamil Nadu to be eligible for state quota seats.
  • Candidates born in Tamil Nadu or residing in Tamil Nadu for the last 5 years are eligible.
  • For non-Tamil Nadu residents, the candidate can apply for All India Quota (AIQ) seats.
  • Native of Tamil Nadu:
  • Candidates who belong to Tamil Nadu but have studied outside Tamil Nadu can apply for counselling under the Tamil Nadu domicile quota.

NEET UG Counselling Process

MBBS in Tamil Nadu admission process will be conducted as Tamil Nadu NEET UG Counselling 2025, administered by the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Chennai. The online counselling is conducted and includes both state and private colleges under government quota with fair and transparent allocation of seats to students through NEET UG scores.

The Tamil Nadu Medical Education (TNMEE) Department conducts the NEET UG counselling for both government and private medical colleges in the state. The counselling process involves several steps:

  • Step 1: Registration
  • Candidates need to visit the official website of the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Tamil Nadu and register for counselling after the NEET results are declared.
