Eligibility Criteria for Admission to MBBS and Postgraduate Programs

  1. MBBS Program:
  • Educational Qualifications:10+2 Completion: Candidates must have successfully completed their higher secondary education (10+2) with a focus on the sciences. This includes:
      • Core Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
      • Minimum Aggregate Marks:A minimum aggregate of 50% marks is required across these subjects for general category students.For candidates belonging to reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC), the minimum requirement is reduced to 40% to ensure greater accessibility to medical education.
  • Entrance Exam:
    • NEET-UG Qualification:Candidates must appear for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduate (NEET-UG).
      • This examination assesses the candidates’ knowledge in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and serves as a crucial determinant for admission to MBBS programs across various medical colleges in India.
      • A valid NEET-UG score is mandatory; candidates must achieve the cutoff set by the respective institutions to secure a place in the program.

Age Limit:

      • Candidates must typically be at least 17 years old on or before December 31 of the admission year.
      • There may be an upper age limit, depending on the guidelines set by the National Testing Agency (NTA) or respective institutions.

    • MBBS Degree:
      • Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from a recognized medical university or college.
      • The university must be recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) or its equivalent to ensure the quality of education.
    • Internship Completion:
      • Candidates must complete a one-year compulsory rotating internship. This internship is crucial as it provides practical experience in various medical fields, enhancing the candidates’ clinical skills and knowledge before entering specialized training.
  • Entrance Exam:
    • NEET-PG Qualification:
      • Admission to MD and MS programs is contingent upon qualifying the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET-PG).
      • This examination evaluates the candidates’ knowledge and understanding of medical concepts, clinical skills, and their ability to apply this knowledge in practical scenarios.
      • Candidates must meet the minimum cutoff scores established by the respective institutions to gain admission.

Counselling Process for Admission 2025-26

  1. Registration: Candidates must register for Karnataka NEET UG/PG counseling through the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) website.
