Three international universities are presently functioning in India, and the University Grants Commission (UGC) is contemplating the approval of more than 50 prestigious foreign universities to assist students, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan disclosed to the Parliament on Wednesday.

Responding during the Question Hour in Rajya Sabha, Pradhan emphasized that around 14-15 lakh Indian students pursue their studies overseas, resulting in a substantial outflow of resources. To tackle this issue and encourage advanced research within India, the UGC has revised its regulations to ease the admission of foreign universities.

Three International Universities Are Currently Operating In India

He explained that, in contrast to previous numbers, three international universities are currently functioning in India. Furthermore, more than 50 foreign universities are in talks with different state governments and have submitted applications for UGC approval.

We will assess these institutions according to our criteria, and approvals will be issued accordingly. "This action serves the best interests of students," Pradhan remarked.

Additionally, he stated that the government's dedication to institutional autonomy guarantees that universities will maintain their academic independence.

In a separate inquiry regarding the enhancement of penalties for universities that contravene regulations, the minister reaffirmed that the government remains committed to upholding elevated standards and ensuring compliance within the higher education sector.

With the influx of more foreign universities into India, the future of education in the country is promising. Indian students wishing to enter these top-tier schools will benefit from the teaching models and international experience brought in by these institutes. With a large population and many financially independent individuals, the nation is able to pursue higher education overseas. This indicates that Indian students are seeking foreign universities. If Foreign universities will come in India it will benefit for the Indian students who wants to pursue higher education in Abroad but due to high fees not every student can get admission from it.

After many universities will come in India the rich and poor factor and rural and urban areas factor will automatically vanished. And also it will benefit the Indian education system.
