Christian Medical College Ludhiana is an educational and research institution of all-India character established and run by the minority Christian community. The primary aim of the institution is to educate and train Christian men and women as health professionals in the spirit of Jesus Christ for the healing ministry of the Church in India.

The college also offers educational opportunities to students from all communities irrespective of religion, caste, or social background. The Christian Church seeks through this institution to improve health standards across India, particularly in:

Historical Background

• Medical missionary work in Ludhiana began in 1881 through the Greenfield sisters.
• Dr. Edith Mary Brown joined this work in 1893.
• In 1894, the North Indian School of Medicine for Christian Women was established.

The institution evolved through several stages:

• School of Medicine for Christian Women
• Women’s Christian Medical College
• In 1952, the institution was renamed Christian Medical College.
• The MBBS programme started in 1953, allowing admission of both men and women.
• Prior to MBBS, the institution offered the LSMF (Licentiate State Medical Faculty) diploma until 1952.

• Candidates admitted under this category are encouraged to serve in CMC affiliated rural mission hospitals.

Christian Minority with Service Commitment Category

• Christian candidates applying under this category must:
  • Clearly indicate this category in the application form
  • Have the application endorsed by a member body of the CMC Ludhiana Society
• Applicants must:
  • Apply to the respective member body
  • Obtain a Letter of Service Commitment
  • Submit the letter to the Registrar, CMC Ludhiana
• Applicants must also appear for a Bible Test.

Documents Required for Christian Minority Category

Candidates must submit the following documents:

• Baptism Certificate
• Letter from the Pastor confirming church membership
• Letter of Service Commitment issued by a member body of the CMC Ludhiana Society
• Sworn affidavit of service commitment
• Completed service agreement form
• Domicile certificate

Note: Original documents must be produced during certificate verification.

Service Commitment Requirement

Candidates admitted under the Christian Minority category must serve in mission hospitals of the CMC Ludhiana Society.

• Minimum service requirement:
  • MBBS – 2 years
• Candidates must submit a notarized affidavit of service commitment at the time of admission.
• Failure to fulfill the service commitment violates the institution’s mission of service.

Bible Test Requirement

• Christian applicants under the service commitment category must appear for a Bible Test.
• Key points of the Bible Test:
  • The Bible Test must be passed.
  • Marks in the Bible Test are not included in NEET merit ranking.
  • Candidates scoring below 40% will be considered under the Open Category.

Counselling Process for MBBS Admission

Counselling for MBBS admission to Christian Medical College Ludhiana is conducted according to the guidelines and schedule announced by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS).

• Tripartite Service Agreement between:

• This agreement is provided by the institution and must be executed at Ludhiana
