MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) operates under the Ministry of Health, Government of India. It conducts All India level counselling after the NEET UG exam.

MCC counselling includes the following MBBS, BDS, and B.Sc Nursing seats:

1.    15% All India Quota (AIQ) – From all state government medical/dental colleges (only 15% of seats)

2.    All AIIMS and JIPMER MBBS seats (100%)

3.    100% of Deemed University MBBS/BDS seats

4.    Central Universities (BHU, AMU, DU, IPU, JMI – MBBS/BDS)

5.    ESIC IP Quota seats (leftover seats after AIQ and State Quota are allotted on merit to Insured Persons’ children)

MCC NEET UG Counselling is conducted in 4 major rounds every year:

1.    Round 1 (Free Exit allowed)

2.    Round 2 (Final round with option of upgradation)

4.    Stray Vacancy Round – Last attempt for unfilled seats

⚠️ If you've registered once, that registration is valid for all rounds except the Stray Vacancy round.

Note: All Saturdays, Sundays, and Gazetted Holidays shall be treated as working days during counselling. The schedule is applicable to MCC AIQ counselling and the corresponding State Counselling timeline.

The MCC counselling begins with Online Registration – the most crucial step. Missing this step means missing the entire counselling opportunity.

Step-by-Step Registration Process:

1.    Visit Official Site: Click here

2.    Go to UG Medical Counselling > Click on New Registration

3.    Enter NEET Roll Number, DOB, and other details

4.    Select Category and Course Type (AIQ, Deemed, BDS, etc.)

5.    Verify Mobile Number & Email ID

6.    Pay the Registration Fee + Security Deposit online

Expected Fee Structure (2026):

The security deposit is refundable if no seat is allotted or if you follow all rules. It's forfeited if you are allotted a seat but do not report or cancel improperly.

This is the most decisive step in counselling. A wrong choice filling strategy can cost you your dream college.

Effective Strategy:

•    Top to Bottom Order: First list your dream colleges, then realistic options, and finally safe backup choices.

•    Add Both MBBS and BDS: This increases your chances of selection.

•    Budget Awareness: Avoid Deemed Universities if their fees exceed your budget.

•    Understand Seat Types: Fill AIQ, Deemed, and Central options wisely.

•    No Limit: Fill as many choices as possible.

Choice Locking Tips:

•    Manual locking is not mandatory, but highly recommended.

•    If you don’t lock, the system auto-locks your choices at the deadline.

•    Always verify and lock manually to avoid mistakes.

•    Once locked, no changes can be made.

🚨 A small mistake can lead to an unwanted college – take this step seriously.

MCC uses a centralized software system to allot seats based on the following:

1.    Your NEET Rank – Highest weightage

2.    Reservation Category – As applicable (UR, OBC, SC, ST, EWS)

3.    Choice Filling Order – System matches your choices in order and stops once it finds a valid match.

Example:

If you placed a college at the top of your list and your rank qualifies for it, you’ll get it. Even if a better college is listed lower, it will not be considered because the system assumes your higher-listed choices are more preferred.

Software always allots the highest priority seat available based on your filled choices.

What to Do After Seat Allotment?

Once a seat is allotted in any round, you have two choices – accept and report to the allotted college, or wait for the next round (where allowed). The exact rules and last dates for each round of MCC NEET Counselling 2026 are given in the schedule table above. In general:

•    Round 1: Free Exit is allowed – if you don’t want to join, you can exit without losing your deposit. If you join, you remain eligible for upgradation in Round 2.

•    Round 2: If allotted a seat here and you don’t report, your security deposit is forfeited and you are out of further counselling.

•    Mop-Up Round: The allotted seat becomes final – no further MCC or State counselling is allowed. Non-reporting leads to deposit loss.

•    Stray Vacancy Round: Only previously registered candidates are eligible. Not reporting after allotment can lead to a ban from further NEET counselling as per current rules.

✅ Only fill those choices that you're sure to join.

✅ Free Exit (Allowed only in Round 1)

•    If you are allotted a seat in Round 1 but you decide not to report, your security deposit will not be forfeited.

•    You can still participate in Round 2 without any penalty.

•    This option gives students a chance to carefully evaluate their first allotment before making a final decision.

🔁 Upgradation

•    If you accept and report to a college in Round 1, you are still eligible to participate in Round 2 for a better seat (as per your original choice list).

•    If a better seat is allotted in Round 2:

o    Your old seat is automatically cancelled, and you must join the new one.

•    If no better seat is found:

o    Your Round 1 seat is retained.

•    Upgradation is only allowed until Round 2.

o    Not allowed in Mop-Up or Stray Vacancy rounds.

👉 Tips:

•    If you are not satisfied with your Round 1 seat, still report and opt for upgradation.

•    In Round 2, update your choice list with a smarter strategy to improve your chances.

⚠️ Note: If you reject a Round 2 allotment or fail to report, your deposit is forfeited, and you are out of the counselling process.

Reporting Process and Required Original Documents

Once allotted a seat, you must physically report to the college. Reporting includes document verification and fee submission (online or offline, depending on the college).

Documents Required at Reporting Time:

1.    NEET 2026 Admit Card

2.    NEET 2026 Scorecard

3.    Class 10th Certificate & Marksheet

4.    Class 12th Certificate & Marksheet

5.    Valid Photo ID (Aadhaar / PAN / Passport / DL)

6.    Caste Certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS – if applicable)

7.    PwD Certificate (if applicable)

8.    Allotment Letter (from MCC website)

📌 Important Suggestions:

•    Carry 3–4 photocopies of each document.

•    Arrange documents in a neat folder.

•    If any document is provisional, confirm acceptance with the college in advance.

⏳ Reporting on time is mandatory. Failure to do so leads to seat cancellation and deposit loss.

As counselling progresses, the rules become stricter. Many students treat these as last opportunities, but proper understanding of their terms is essential.

🔄 Round 3: Mop-Up Round

•    This is the final regular round of MCC counselling.

•    If you accept and join a seat here:

o    It becomes your final seat.

o    You are ineligible for any future MCC or State counselling.

•    If you are allotted a seat but don’t report, your deposit is forfeited.

🚨 Stray Vacancy Round

•    This is the last chance to fill vacant seats.

•    Only students who already registered in earlier rounds are eligible.

•    No new registrations allowed.

•    No manual choice filling – system allots seats automatically.

•    If you get a seat and don’t report, you may be banned from NEET 2026 (as per NMC/MCC rules).

•    Only accept choices you’re 100% ready to join.

•    Avoid rejecting seats – it could cost you your deposit and future eligibility.

•    Make sure your budget and college preference are aligned with available options.

3.    If switching from MCC to State counselling:

o    You must resign the MCC seat officially through the MCC portal.

4.    If continuing with MCC Round 2:

o    Avoid joining State Round 2 unless you're absolutely sure.

o    Once you accept a seat in MCC Round 2, you are locked out of State rounds.

5.    After Mop-Up (Round 3):

o    Accepting a seat in MCC or State mop-up round disqualifies you from the other.

o    You can only remain in one.
