The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is all set to begin the JoSAA 2025 counselling process for admissions to top engineering institutes across India. Candidates aspiring for seats in IITs, NITs, IIITs, IIEST, and GFTIs must participate in this centralized counselling. The process is based on JEE Advanced 2025 and JEE Main 2025 ranks, depending on the institute of choice.
The JoSAA counselling 2025 registration is expected to start on June 3, 2025, which is one day after the declaration of the JEE Advanced 2025 result. The JoSAA 2025 application form and choice filling will be available only in online mode through the official website – josaa.nic.in. The site has already been updated for the academic session 2025–26, although detailed schedules and notifications are still awaited.
What is JoSAA Counselling?
JoSAA counselling is a centralized process conducted annually to allocate seats in undergraduate engineering programs at 121 premier institutes across the country. These include 23 IITs, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs, and 40 Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). Candidates aiming for admission into IITs must qualify JEE Advanced, while seats in NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs are allotted based on JEE Main ranks.
The JoSAA counselling 2025 start date will mark the beginning of the choice filling and seat allocation process, expected to span over five main rounds, followed by additional rounds via CSAB counselling 2025 for any vacant seats.
JoSAA 2025 Eligibility Criteria
To participate in JoSAA counselling, candidates must have a valid JEE Main 2025 rank for NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs, and a qualifying JEE Advanced 2025 rank for IITs. Students must also have passed Class 12 with the required subjects and percentage as specified by the respective institutes. The JoSAA counselling 2025 eligibility criteria also vary slightly based on the category and the institution applied to.
How to Apply for JoSAA 2025 Counselling?
Candidates must register online on the official JoSAA portal. Here’s how the process works:
1. Visit josaa.nic.in and click on the registration link.
2. Enter your JEE Main 2025 or JEE Advanced 2025 credentials to log in.
3. Fill in the JoSAA application form with personal, academic, and contact details.

Note that the JoSAA counselling 2025 registration date for JEE Mains candidates is the same as for JEE Advanced candidates, starting after the Advanced results.
Seat Allotment and Seat Matrix
The seat allotment will take place across five main rounds. After each round, students must either accept the seat by paying the fee and uploading documents or choose to float/slide their choice. The JoSAA 2025 seat matrix will list the number of available seats in each institute across different categories.
In the previous session, a total of 59,937 seats were available across IITs, NITs, IIITs, IIEST, and GFTIs. This year’s seat matrix will be published soon on the official portal.
JoSAA 2025 Application Fees
Candidates who are allotted a seat need to pay a seat acceptance fee. The JoSAA counselling 2025 fees are typically ₹35,000 for general category and ₹15,000 for SC/ST/PwD categories. The JoSAA counselling 2025 application fees cover seat confirmation and are adjustable against the institute's admission fees.
