Bihar Govt Hikes Stipend: MBBS, BDS, AYUSH & FMG Interns to Get ₹27,000 Monthly
On 2nd September 2025, the Bihar government took another historic step to grant a monumental stipend raise to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and Foreign Medical Graduate (FMG) interns in the state. A large Raise in Stipend

- MBBS, BDS, AYUSH Interns: There will be an increase of up to 7000 rupees in the stipend of interns in government medical colleges, Patna Dental College, and AYUSH institutes (Ayurvedic, Unani, and Homoeopathy).
- Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs): FMGs who undergo mandatory internship in government medical colleges will also get the same amount, i.e. 27,000 per month.
- Physiotherapy and Cccupational Therapy Interns: the monthly allowance of this group doubles from 30,000 to 20,000, given the importance of their contribution to healthcare.
This will curb the outcry, particularly at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), where interns were demanding similar stipends as those found at the AIIMS Patna (Rs 32,000) and IGIMS (Rs 30,000).
