Bihar to Open 16 New Medical Colleges by 2025-26: A Step Toward Enhanced Healthcare Services
Bihar is set to significantly improve its healthcare and medical education infrastructure with the introduction of 16 new medical colleges by 2025-26. This initiative by the Nitish Kumar government is aimed at expanding health services and increasing access to medical education across the state. âĸ Three New Medical Colleges Starting in 2024: Three government medical colleges will begin operations in the coming year, increasing the total number of government medical colleges in Bihar to 15.
âĸ Enhanced Medical Education Capacity: The introduction of these medical colleges will add approximately 1750 government MBBS seats, while private medical colleges will contribute around 900 seats. This will bring the total number of MBBS seats in the state to about 2650.
âĸ Focus on Local Healthcare: Patients in districts where new medical colleges are established will benefit from improved healthcare services, reducing their reliance on Patna for medical treatment.
